Aerosmith guitarist joins Miami Dolphins' tailgate party

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry isn’t letting American Idol slow him down.

Thursday night, Perry joined Juliette Lewis at the Miami Dolphins pre-game tailgate party, before the Florida team’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Lewis is best known for her roles in such films as "Natural Born Killers" and "Cape Fear," and currently stars in “Conviction.”

Victor Gonzalez at The Miami New Times reports Perry accompanied Lewis and crew on "Hard Lovin' Woman," a bluesy track Janis Joplin could've sang back in the day. "You'd think, 'oh the blues,' and 'it's not contemporary,' blah, blah, blah," said Lewis, "that's bulls***. The pinnacle of each show is when we play that song."

Gonzalez writes that, during the mini-concert, Lewis introduced her special guest to the crowd gathered around Land Shark Tailgate Stage, as he casually walked on stage smoking a cigarette.

The two kicked into "Hard Lovin' Woman," which brilliantly displayed Lewis's vocal range, as well as the "fiery spirit" she interjects into to each of her live shows. And Perry's guitar work served as a beautiful compliment to Lewis's commanding vocals.

Lewis posted her enthusiasm for the event on her Facebook page.

“We played a 20 min set before the Dolphins/Bears game in Miami! Joe Perry joined us for "Hard Lovin Woman" and a cover of "Boom Boom Boom"! I'm not gonna lie it was pretty special to have a guitar legend playing on a blues song I wrote! Pretty big highlight of my musical career. Oh and the ever dynamic Kemble Walters joined us for the gig too. I think we got the crowd all ready for the game.”
