Kiss, Motley Crue stars support Steven Tyler on American Idol

"There should be more Steven Tylers on there"

The recent war of words that kicked off with Kid Rock’s stance against Steven Tyler’s decision to join American Idol, has started to bring out support in favor of the Aerosmith frontman’s move to try and bring rock back into mainstream America.

Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx talked about the AI situation on his nationally syndicated radio show, "Sixx Sense," on Tuesday night.

“I'd talked to Steven and he'd said that I really saw the perspective the way that was, kind of, his idea for why he did it,” said Sixx. “Kid Rock was blasting him pretty hard and, you know, I don't have a problem with Kid Rock — I mean, I know him — and I get what he's trying to do; he's trying to say that 'American Idol' is, like, cheesy… But the whole point of Steven Tyler being on 'American Idol' is to not make it cheesy, it's to give it a real artist on there.”

“Steven knows how to dress, right?! So he knows style,”
continued Nikki. “He knows how to design sets, so he knows how to do that. He knows how to write songs — obviously — [and] he plays instruments, he's one of the greatest singers, one of the greatest frontmen of all time... So who's better to judge somebody and give them advice or maybe say they don't have it than a guy like Steven? There should be more Steven Tylers on there.”

Gene Simmons of Kiss recently tweeted about his thoughts on the Tyler deal and the fuss caused by Kid Rock.

“Kid Rock's wrong,” wrote Simmons. “Kid's a good guy. Though he's got the goods. But he's wrong about Tyler and Amer Idol. Kid said Tyler did the "stupidest thing" re: Amer Idol. He's wrong. Steven did the right thing. He's going to rock the place, and it's the best thing for him right now.”
