Beatles memorabilia will likely always be hot sellers, and a New Year’s Day auction has confirmed the latest market value on a few John Lennon-owned items.
The white, two-piece suit Lennon wore on the cover of the Beatles' "Abbey Road" album, the blazer Lennon wore in the "Imagine" music video, and a 1972 Chrysler station wagon that once belonged to Lennon and Yoko Ono all sold to fans and collectors during Saturday’s auction by Braswell Galleries of Norwalk, Conn.
The “Abbey Road” suit went for $46,000, the “Imagine” video blazer for $18,000 and the ’72 wagon sold for $5,500.
Interesting to note that the Abbey Road suit has gone down in value; it last sold for $120,000 back in 2005. The unknown seller reportedly decided to put the item up for auction after experiencing some economic hardship, so while picking up some cash flow, he/she has unfortunately lost almost 80K with the resell. Ouch!
