Steven Tyler: American Idol is like early days of Aerosmith

I doubt any of us pictured Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler palling around with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, but the show’s new lineup seems way more in sync than it ever has been before; Steven even mentioned as much the other day.

Following his Idol broadcast debut this week, USA Today reports Tyler called in to Seacrest's radio show Friday morning to discuss the experience.

"I'm smothered in hot, heaping, helpings of happiness," Tyler said, going on to explain that the experience is reminding him of the early days of Aerosmith. "This is like the way the band was way back in the beginning. Seeing the magic unfold. This is like something new again."

He added, "I've never done TV like this. [Aerosmith has] done videos, but I've never done TV and watched back… they're are so many beautiful moments, it's pretty trippy."
