The rocker sang one his Idol tunes, the Carole King song, “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?” and then joined the hosts for a chat.
Asked what he was doing before the show, James said, "I delivered pizzas. Two days before auditions, I got laid off." He said the pizza place closed, leaving him out of a job. Even after his Idol experience, "Technically, I'm still unemployed," he added.
Durbin will, of course, be a part of the Idol Top 11 summer tour across North America.

james was awesome he was my number one pick one of the girls need to go she cant sing like he can. was waiting for him to do an iron maiden hit that would have been cool.
James just grabbed the hearts of many viewers. He is very special with an incredible voice. He sings the ballads so beautifully with such a sweet pure voice and then turns around and really rocks a song. He was the all around best, no contest. Too many problems occurred that night with the voting and people forgetting they still needed to vote for him but they were focusing on who to get the 3rd position. He should rise to stardom without idol. I can't name half of the winners but you hear from others that did not win. God bless James and is family.
America got it wrong...totally wrong....Iames is amazing...he has a warm personality and a great voice. He should have won and I hope someone is smart enough to sign him .....He was my #1 from the start.

My pick from his audition to win AI, but knowing the crazy way Idol works, I'm not all that surprised that he was voted off too early. This guy has raw, beautiful talent and I will be first in line to buy his first CD. Even if he chooses to do a metal album, I hope he will also record our favorites (all of them) from Idol. He has so many good wishes coming his way!
I really thought Idol had it together when they got Steven Tyler and JLo as judges, who mostly gave productive, constructive comments to contestants throughout the season. But the judges predicted James Durbin early on to win, so why didnt they keep the "save" they gave to Casey Abrams to protect James?
Good question. Since there's only 1 "save" available, the judges can't predict what's to come, only what's in front of them. They have no way of knowing who's going home each week, and to your point about James, consider that it's possible he could have made it to the finale and never needed the save, so holding it back with a single person in mind is kind of risky, in the big picture.
As for Casey, I can only guess they got caught up in him at that moment and decided to make the call.
My first recollection of a judge 'predicting' a winner from their gut reaction was Tyler's comments following the Lauren Alaina audition in Nashville, where he said something like "I think we found the One."
LOVE THIS GUY! He is not only an amazing singer, but has an unbelievable ability to connect with his fans. You can just tell that he loves every single second of performing, and gives it 100% every time. I can't wait to buy his first CD.
DAMN!! Every time I see him singing I just fall inlove with him all over again!! He is so AMAZING.. great voice.. KEEP ROCKING JAMES!
