Sammy Hagar offers to manage reunited Guns N’ Roses

Sammy Hagar says he’d be up to the task of managing a reunited Guns N’ Roses.

“I would manage them,” the Red Rocker tells Attention Deficit Delirium. “I’d be their manager and make sure they got the right deal from all the promoters. They could be the biggest band in the world if they wanted to.”

Hagar knows a thing or two about business, as he outlined in his second stab at an autobiography, “Red: My Uncensored Life In Rock,” published earlier this year. Sammy wrote that he was able to seriously upgrade Van Halen’s income when he joined in 1985, as the group was living with lower revenue deals than he was as a solo artist. And then there’s his tequila: building the Cabo Wabo brand and selling an 80% stake to Italian company Gruppo Compari for $80 million in 2007.

“They’ve proved it again and again and again that it ain’t [about] the money,” explained Hagar. “They just don’t get along, because Axl goes out for a lot less money with his version of Guns N’ Roses, and Slash goes out for a lot less money with Velvet Revolver or by himself. The amount of money they could make if they got it all back together, made a great record and toured the world, would probably be as much as the Rolling Stones [get], and for them not to do it, it obviously ain’t about the money. Because they could do it.”

GNR’s nomination for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame could lead to the band being inducted next spring; the announcement of who gets in happens mid-December. In the meantime, speculation mounts about what could happen IF the band is chosen for induction: will they show up, will they be able to speak with each other, will they…gasp…even play together at the event?

And there’s there’s the whole Axl Rose disrespecting fans by getting on stage whenever he feels like it deal, regardless of their real life responsibilities…how would Hagar handle that situation, especially from a contractual standpoint with promoters?

If Sammy could work with Eddie Van Halen, could he work with Axl? Does Hagar really need the headaches?
