Allman Brothers Band announce 2012 Beacon Theatre dates

The Allman Brothers Band have announced dates for their annual series of shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre.

The run starts March 9; 10 dates have been confirmed, so far, but more shows may be added.

Tickets go on sale January 6.

The group have performed over 200 sold out Beacon Shows since they began the March tradition in 1989.

The Allman Brothers have dubbed 2012 "The Year of the Peach" in celebration of the 40th anniversary of their 1972 album “Eat A Peach.”

The group will receive a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award on February 11, and a quick mention during the live Grammy’s broadcast on the 12.

“It’s shaping up to be a great year,” says Butch Trucks, who co-founded the band in 1969 with Gregg Allman, drummer Jaimoe, guitarist Duane Allman, bassist Berry Oakley and guitarist Dickey Betts. “We just wanted to make music that was honest and play it for friends, which is pretty much what we’ve done. It’s an honor to be able to be recognized like this.”
