Alice Cooper receives Doctor Of Music honors

On Friday, Alice Cooper delivered the Graduation Commencement Speech to 600 graduates from The Musician's Institute in Los Angeles.

Alice opened by saying, "First of all, the fact that I am here as your keynote speaker raises a lot of red flags. It shows an obvious lack of judgment on your part."

Alice also received an Honorary Doctorate from The Musician's Institute (“Doctor Of Music”), the second Doctorate award he has received in his career. "One more of these and I can write prescriptions,” joked Alice.

Other key words from his speech:

"Mediocrity is your greatest enemy."

"If you're going to be in this business, don't be afraid to go out on that limb as far as you can."

"If you succeed you become a genius, if you fail you become an idiot. You can always start again."

"Apparently chickens don't fly as much as they plummet."

"Elvis said to me 'Hey man yer that cat with the makeup and the snakes. That's cool man I dig that'. "

"So there I was with a loaded snub nose Smith and Wesson 38 aimed at Elvis Presley. The little devil on my shoulder said 'Kill em'. The angel the other shoulder said 'No just wound him'... "

Alice returns to the concert stage in June, doing some solo shows before hooking up with Iron Maiden for a month on that band’s “Maiden England” North American tour.
