Queen have confirmed that they’ll be playing four shows this summer with Adam Lambert fronting the legendary group.
Billboard reports that, despite the recent cancellation of the combo’s appearance at Sonisphere UK, an event that was shut down, the Queen + Lambert lineup will play a June 30 show in Moscow, and also play on a bill with Elton John in Kiev as well as do two early July shows at the Hammersmith Apollo to provide "some alternative... for some of the people who had bought tickets" to Sonisphere.
Details for the other three dates will be announced soon.
"We're really excited about it," Queen's Roger Taylor says. "Adam... of course he has this unbelievable range, like Freddie (Mercury) had range. Adam can really cover it. He's an extraordinary singer and a real talent. I feel he fits into our sort of theatricality."
As for doing more with Lambert, Taylor says that "we're just going to see what happens, how well it goes, how we get on." He does acknowledge, however, that he and May have been approached to be part of the Summer Olympics closing ceremonies in London but adds that "I don't think we're meant to say too much about it yet."
Lambert previously performed with Queen at the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards, and on the 2009 American Idol season 8 finale, along with Kris Allen.

I wish Queen + Adam Lambert would come to the States. Instead they have the tribute band Queen Extravaganza in the States which I have no interest in. I want to see Brian May, Roger Taylor + Adam Lambert. I doubt they'll come now since Roger Taylor organized Queen Extravaganza he won't want to compete against his own creation.
If Queen, Brian & Roger, do confirm for the Olympics, I hope they choose Adam to front them. Love Lambert or not, there are very few singers today that could take on the this task, and he's certainly up to the job.
I agree that Adam Lambert will do a phenomenal job fronting for Queen during these Summer concerts. Now, I just need to win the lottery to fly from NYC to London!
So hope there can be a live feed to the States so I can see. Queen and Adam Lambert at the Olympics would be almost as if the world won the lottery :) Kudos to Queen for not forgetting who completes them so well. Surely Freddie is smiling. 1k
