Journey – Don’t Stop Believin: Everyman’s Journey film to be released next week

The Journey documentary - "Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey" – will be released On Demand and Digital on March 9th.

The film will open March 8th in select US cities, a complete list of theatres screening the movie can be found at

The documentary tells the story of how the classic rock band Journey found singer Arnel Pineda online and brought him into the group.

In 2007, Arnel's friend began uploading videos of the aspiring Filipino singer covering classic rock songs onto YouTube. One of them was seen by Journey guitarist Neal Schon. Blown away by Pineda's talent and uncanny vocal similarity to former Journey front man Steve Perry, Neal flew Arnel from Manila to San Francisco to audition for the band, and the rest is history.

But Arnel's personal journey had just begun. Having lived life on the street since age 13 with no classical music training, he was anything but prepared for the grueling physical and emotional strains that come from fronting a rock band on a whirlwind world tour.

Can a man who has already overcome so many obstacles deal with the demands of his newfound fame?

A rare behind-the-scenes look at one of America's most beloved rock groups, "Don't Stop Believin'" takes a trip around the world with band members and fans alike, watching as the newest Journeyman converts skeptics and haters into adoring fans—and breathes new life into Journey for the next generation of international listeners.

Motley Crue bassist raves about first Australian show with KISS

KISS kicked off an Australian tour with Motley Crue and Thin Lizzy on Thursday in Perth, the first of 8 shows in the country.

Crue bassist Nikki Sixx is posting a tour journal, and shares his thoughts on opening night:
“Day 2 Australian tour. Perth.

Considering the time difference from Los Angeles the jet lag isn’t too bad. Our hotel fire alarm kept going off last night and it was somehow a blessing in disguise because it kept me awake late enough to help get me back on track.I was talking to Paul Stanley backstage today and he said he is still waking up at 4 am. Jet lag is a bitch when you have to get up onstage and give 100% but once the lights go down all the fatigue goes right out the window. There is no rush like performing live for a sold out crowd.

First show tonight was really great considering we’ve been off for about 5 months. The band felt really tight and the energy coming off the crowd was a great kick off to what is going to be an amazing tour.

Tonight was also the first show I played my new Schecter Sixx basses and I cant believe how great they felt to perform live with. Andy our soundman said they sound massive out front. Mission Accomplished.

We are doing meet and greets over here and it makes me so happy to see people faces light up just to meet the band. Again, Mission accomplished…

I brought my Leica M9 with me and am gonna try and get some photo journalistic style photography in on our days off but for now you’ll just have to deal with this pre show shot of me…☺

Good night and thank you..”

Jimi Hendrix featured on official Record Store Day poster

An iconic Jimi Hendrix photo is being used as the official poster for Record Store Day 2013.

Set for April 20, the annual event is a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally.

The poster was created from a photo of Jimi Hendrix that was taken in a small record store in New England by Ira Rosen just prior to the release of his landmark 1967 debut album, “Are You Experienced.”

"It's entirely appropriate that an image of Jimi Hendrix is on the official Record Store Day poster,” says Janie Hendrix. “He was an avid music fan and record collector himself and, of course, his recordings are among the most enduring and cherished of all time. Jimi's musical legacy and influence grow with every passing year so, in a sense, he makes Record Store Day last much, much longer than 24 hours."

Only 5,000 copies of the poster will be made and will be free to Hendrix fans at fully participating record stores in the United States.

Experience Hendrix will also be celebrating Record Store Day 2013 with the exclusive release of a limited edition individually numbered 7" vinyl single featuring the original mono mixes of "Hey Joe" b/w "Stone Free" which have been unavailable since their original 1966 release.

Jack White
was recently named Record Store Day 2013 Ambassador.

“People, Hell & Angels,” a new album premiering twelve previously-unreleased studio recordings ('68 - '70) completed by Hendrix will be available at independent record stores starting on March 5.

Buckcherry: Confessions debuts in US Top 20

Buckcherry’s new album, “Confessions,” has debuted at #20 on the US Billboard 200 Albums chart with 18,548 copies sold in its first week of release.

The project also enters both the Billboard Hard Music Album chart and Metal Album chart at #1, and was the best-selling new album of the week.

“Confessions” also maintained the #1 position on the iTunes Rock Album chart throughout release week.

Buckcherry’s sixth album is inspired by the seven deadly sins, and is part of a larger vision that includes a film written by singer Josh Todd, who based the album's lyrics on his childhood and transformation into adulthood.

"Confessions" was introduced by the lead single, “Gluttony.”

Van Halen: David Lee Roth talks upcoming Australian concert

Van Halen recently announced that they will co-headline the inaugural Stone Music Festival at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium over the April 20 and 21 weekend.

Also on the bill are co-headliner Billy Joel, Kings Of Chaos, Richie Ramone, Buckcherry, Lifehouse and Illumination Road, among others.

For Van Halen, it’s their first Australian appearance in many years, after coming close a couple of times recently, including a canceled headlining slot at Soundwave 2011.

“You're going to have to ask the rhythm section about that one,” singer David Lee Roth tells The Daily Telegraph, in regards to the band’s lack of shows down under. “I myself am a traveller. And let me carry with that an explanation that all those who wander are not necessarily lost. I'm calling you from Tokyo, in fact."

Roth was asked if the Aussie concert is part of his quest to get Van Halen out of America and touring the world again.

“Clearly,” agrees Roth. “The Van Halens, I think, are just now starting to value that which once was, which was the capacity to experience other worlds, other communities, particularly when you are a stranger in a stranger land. I find that so refreshing. And you gotta be prepared to be a beginner, you gotta be prepared to not have your cheesburger and fries, you gotta be prepared for a lot.”

Roth says he still has a fire in his belly when he walks on stage.

“That fire starts down around little Elvis long before it reaches the belly. Yeah, I named my dick,” explains the singer. “My fire starts long before we even start to rehearse let alone get to the stage. I collect music, like, by weight. There are still three Tower Record stores here, four floors of actual CDs, you can hold them in your hands like belt buckles. If I cup my hands I can pile CDs all the way up to my chin. I myself have four or five things I really love to listen to and I am able to investigate deeply into that here. I listen constantly and I sing and dance constantly. I chose this apartment because it has a cool wooden floor and with the right socks you can get a four-foot slide.”

Following the Australian show, Van Halen will bring their “A Different Kind Of Truth” tour to Japan for three shows in June.
