AC/DC classic covered by Anthrax

An AC/DC classic has been redone by Anthrax.

The metal band has recorded “TNT” for “Anthems,” Anthrax's long-awaited, eight-track EP that pays tribute to the classic songs by some of Anthrax's favorite bands from the 1970s.

"This was Joey's [Belladonna, vocals] track,” drummer Charlie Benante tells Music Radar. “We already had 'Whole Lotta Rosie' recorded, but he wanted 'TNT'. I can see why: his voice totally lends itself to this track.”

"It would have been obvious to pick something off of 'Highway To Hell' or 'Back In Black', and so we didn't. [laughs],” continued Benante. “I studied every Phil Rudd lick, and I did not go overboard with anything. I played exactly what he played on 'TNT'. You can't do a fast drum fill on the song — it'll stand out as being out of place. I laid it down, pulled it back, and that was that."

“TNT” first appeared as the title track of AC/DC’s 1975 Australian-only album; it was later included on 1976’s international release of “High Voltage,” which repackaged songs from the band’s first two Aussie-only efforts.

Set for release in North America on March 19th (MRI/Megaforce), and on March 22nd in Europe (Nuclear Blast), “Anthems'” tracklisting also features Rush's “Anthem”, Thin Lizzy's 'Jailbreak', Boston's 'Smokin'', 'Big Eyes' by Cheap Trick, Journey's 'Keep On Runnin', as well as the album version and a special remix of Anthrax's “Crawl”, from the band's 2011 album, “Worship Music.”
