Following the sudden cancellation of two concerts this week due to “a family emergency,” Chris and Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes have revealed that their father, Stan, has passed away.
"We sadly bid a final farewell to our loving father, Stan Robinson,” they posted on Wednesday. “The man who lived his entire life in Atlanta, GA left this earthly realm Tuesday afternoon on wings of pure love and with his sons by his side. We love you Dad."
The band announced that a Tuesday concert at Iron City in Birmingham, AL, and a Wednesday show the Arkansas Music Pavilion in Fayetteville, AR, were cancelled as a result of the situation.
The Black Crowes are currently playing shows on their “Lay Down With Number 13” tour, which runs into mid-December.
The band have confirmed that after these concerts, The Black Crowes have no future plans for touring, as band members will focus in 2014 on solo releases and projects.
