Ted Nugent added to Illinois tornado relief benefit concert

Ted Nugent is the latest addition to the December 4th Rock To The Rescue benefit concert in Bloomington, Illinois, organized to raise funds for communities affected by the recent devastating tornadoes and winds in the State.

On November 17th, two dozen tornadoes hit Illinois, killing six people across the State; more than 2,400 homes were damaged or destroyed.

Rock To The Rescue will feature performances by REO Speedwagon, Styx, Richard Marx, Survivor, Larry The Cable Guy and Head East.

Styx guitarist James Young and REO Speedwagon frontman Kevin Cronin are both Illinois natives.

Tickets for the benefit show are available at Ticketmaster.

Rock to the Rescue originally started in 2001 as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and is the brainchild of Styx’s Tommy Shaw and REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin. The two musicians brought together bands and artists such as Bad Company, Journey, Survivor, Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd and many others to be part of “Volunteers For America” concert events in Dallas and Atlanta that ultimately raised over $775,000 for victims of 9/11, as well as the Port Authority police department in New York City.

On the bands’ last tour together, the Midwest Rock N’ Roll Express, Rock To The Rescue not only raised thousands of dollars for local charities at each tour stop, but also raised $108,000 which went directly to the Boston One Fund, helping victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Nugent recently released a new live package, “Ultralive Ballisticrock”, which captured he and his band on the "I Still Believe Tour" at Penn's Peak on August 14, 2011, a concert originally broadcast live on HDNet (now AXSTV).
