Ted Nugent to run for President?

Ted Nugent hinted that a run for the US Presidency may be a part of his plans during a Google Hangout session with Detroit’s Classic Rock station 94.7 WCSX Classic Rock on Monday.

"I have threatened to run for public office, because I have been prodded to do so, and pushed hard in Texas and other states, and here in Michigan, so it’s not off the table," Nugent replied to a question posed by WCSX program director Jerry Tarrants. "I’m 65 this year but I’m still blessed with incredible energy. I don’t know. At this point, it would be up to Mrs. Nugent and my family; I would consult with my manager Doug Banker, but I’m being pushed pretty hard to run for public office.”

“And I believe my sense of logic, my sense of common sense, my connection to people who are in the asset column of America,” he continued. “I believe that I would perform an enormous upgrade in returning to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and most important of all, accountability."

Currently serving on the Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association (NRA), Nugent reluctantly endorsed Mitt Romney as the Republican candidate for President in 2012.

“After a long heart & soul conversation with Mitt Romney today, I concluded this good man will properly represent we the people & I endorsed him,” Nugent tweeted in March of last year.

Before the endorsement, Nugent demanded that Romney pledge there would be no new gun laws or restrictions on Second Amendment rights in his administration; Romney obliged.

"These are not Ted Nugent demands," he said. "They're logic demands. They're 'we the people' demands. They're right over wrong, good over bad."

Romney wasn’t Ted’s first choice in 2012.

"If the real Rick Perry had been at those debates, he would still be in the race," Nugent told the Texas Tribune last year. "It is my firm belief that Rick Perry would have [made] and would make the best president we could choose."

Nugent recently released a new live set, “Ultralive Ballisticrock”, which captured he and his band on the "I Still Believe Tour" at Penn's Peak on August 14, 2011, a concert originally broadcast live on HDNet (now AXSTV).
