Robert Plant to appear in new Terrence Malick film

Robert Plant is set to appear in a new film by director Terrence Malick.

Ryan Gosling spoke to Indiewire about the still-untitled project, which centers around intersecting love triangles within the rock scene in Austin, Texas.

Plant lives in Austin with Patty Griffin. It is expected that Robert’s role will be a cameo of some sort, but no further details are available at this time regarding his participation or a proposed release schedule.

In addition to Gosling, the picture stars Rooney Mara ("The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo") and Haley Bennett, along with Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Natalie Portman.

Indiewire asked which Malick film he was going to appear in – two pictures were shot last summer.

“I'm in the music one,” said Gosling.[Michael] Fassbender, Val Kilmer, Patti Smith, Robert Plant, Johnny Rotten, the Black Lips, just I mean every day was unlike anything.”

The actor said Malick changed his approach this time: where he used to write expansive, beautiful screenplays which he would then essentially discard when he got to set - this time, he didn’t even bother.

“No, there was no script,” the actor said when quizzed about it. “I think he used to have to write them and now I think they're onto the fact that he doesn't use them anyway so they're not requiring them.”

Could Willie Nelson end up playing on the new Megadeth album?

Dave Mustaine ran into the country legend in Austin, TX., Thursday night and posted a photo of the two.

"Willie Nelson is in the restaurant I am eating at,” tweeted the guitarist. “I just met him! How cool is this???"

Dave is in the city doing some house-hunting.

Later, Mustaine re-posted the image, writing, “I'm talking to Willie about a guest appearance on ‘The Blackest Crow’” … a track from the forthcoming album, “Super Collider.”

Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr’s funeral held in London

A funeral service for former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr was held on Monday, March 25 at the City Of London Crematorium in London, England.

Burr died on March 12 in his sleep at his home at the age of 56 after suffering from multiple sclerosis for many years.

Burr joined Maiden in 1979 and performed on the band's first three albums: “Iron Maiden” (1980), “Killers” (1981) and “The Number Of The Beast” (1982). Prior to that, he was a member of Samson.

At the time of his passing, Maiden founder and bassist Steve Harris commented, “This is terribly sad news. Clive was a very old friend of all of us. He was a wonderful person and an amazing drummer who made a valuable contribution to Maiden in the early days when we were starting out. This is a sad day for everyone in the band and those around him and our thoughts and condolences are with his partner Mimi and family at this time."

“I first met Clive when he was leaving Samson and joining Iron Maiden,” said singer Bruce Dickinson. “He was a great guy and a man who really lived his life to the full. Even during the darkest days of his M.S., Clive never lost his sense of humor or irreverence. This is a terribly sad day and all our thoughts are with Mimi and the family”

Def Leppard: Behind the scenes of VIVA! Hysteria

A new video report by Fuse TV gives fans a behind the scenes look at Def Leppard’s “VIVA! Hysteria.”

The UK rockers are in the second week of their Las Vegas residency at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, where they’ll perform 11 shows between March 22 and April 13.

“VIVA! Hysteria” features two sets from the band at each performance: the first is a wild card collection of songs that will change from night to night; the scond presents the band’s iconic 1987 album, “Hysteria,” from start to finish.

Prior to the launch of the series, Def Leppard released a newly recorded version of the song “Hysteria.”

The new single is the latest song re-recorded by the band as they were unable to come to an agreement with their former record label over digital rights fees.

Pink Floyd: Dark Side Of The Moon inspires BBC radio play

The 40th anniversary of Pink Floyd's 1973 classic, “Dark Side of the Moon,” has inspired an upcoming play on BBC Radio 2.

The BBC reports the hour-long audio drama “Dark Side”, by Sir Tom Stoppard, will be broadcast on August 26, incorporating music from the album as part of its "fantastical and psychedelic" story.

"I can't think of a better way to celebrate The Dark Side of the Moon's 40-year anniversary," commented Floyd member David Gilmour, who said he found Sir Tom's script "fascinating."

According to the broadcaster, Floyd fan Sir Tom was first approached with the suggestion of writing a play based on the album in 1973. The 75-year-old welcomed the suggestion but had "no idea" how to approach it until recently.

Jeff Smith, Radio 2's head of music, said the play would be a "dramatic examination" of the album's themes, "conflict, greed and madness" among them.

"The Dark Side of the Moon" has sold an estimated 50 million copies and was recently admitted into the US Library of Congress as part of its National Recording Registry.

KISS and Hello Kitty team up for TV series

The KISS branding machine continues to work in overdrive as news surfaces that the band are teaming up with Hello Kitty for a new TV series.

USA Today reports a program with the working title “Kiss Hello Kitty” is now in development, and it's based on the line of Kiss x Hello Kitty products which made its debut in 2010.

The show will feature "four Kiss x Hello Kitty characters living their rock 'n' roll dreams and bringing pink anarchy to every situation they are in."

KISS bassist Gene Simmons is slated to be one of the executive producers.

"Knowing and viewing The Hub as I do daily with my three children, it is the perfect home for us to bring the Kiss Hello Kitty juggernaut to yet another generation,” says frontman Paul Stanley.

KISS released an album called “Monster” last fall; they recently wrapped up an Australian tour and will begin a series of European dates starting June 1 in Stockholm, Sweden.

LL Cool J raves about recording with Eddie Van Halen

Eddie Van Halen made headlines recently when he posted images of himself in the studio with rapper LL Cool J.

The news was that the guitar icon is set to appear on two tracks from LL’s forthcoming album, “Authentic,” due April 30.

Van Halen plays on “We’re The Greatest,” and “Not Leaving You Tonight.”

Now the rapper tells Radio.com what teaming up with the guitarist means to him.

“Working with Eddie was just amazing,” says LL. “I just really wanted to work with the best, work with people that I respect, people that I look up to, people that impress me, people that I believe are truly super talented… and even more talented than myself. I feel like Eddie falls in that category. Now Eddie Van Halen has officially done a hip-hop record. And I have officially worked with one of the greatest guitarists that ever lived.”

“Authentic” is LL’s 13th studio album and first in five years.

Eddie has made guest appearances on projects throughout his career, including records by Michael Jackson, Roger Waters, Steve Lukather, Dweezil Zappa, Thomas Dolby and Nicolette Larson.

As for Van Halen the group, they're set to play a handful of concerts this year, with dates in Australia, Japan and a single US show announced for July.

VIDEO: KISS promote opening of Rock & Brews Los Cabos

Following news that KISS members Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons recently announced their co-involvement in the Rock & Brews restaurant chain, the pair co-hosted the March 22 weekend opening of the company’s first international location in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.

Video of the rockers being interviewed at the launch by Cabovision has surfaced.

Rock & Brews Los Cabos is the second location for the new entertainment and rock-themed dining concept. Stanley and Simmons, along with Rock & Brews co-founding partners restaurateur-hotelier Michael Zislis and veteran concert promoter Dave Furano, teamed up with Los Cabos’ restaurateurs Jessica Moreira, Rodrigo Cabeza De Vaca, and Sergio Martinez, and developers Alfredo Gadsden, Gabriel Gadsden and Mario Gadsden for the opening.

The new Rock & Brews Los Cabos features a unique concert themed-atmosphere complete with hand-painted murals of rock artists, album and tour art. Guests can take advantage of the al fresco dining offered, or enjoy sitting indoors in an authentically themed backstage concert site.

The restaurant features a full bar and will have the largest selection of craft beers in Los Cabos. It is set to be a main late-night attraction for locals and tourists alike, as after the dinner rush, a DJ will be spinning tunes nightly.

As for music, KISS will continue their “Monster” tour with European dates starting June 1 in Stockholm, Sweden.

The artwork features a painting by Gil Elvgren (March 15, 1914 – February 29, 1980), the legendary US painter best known for his work on pin-up girls, advertising and illustration.

The artworks ties directly to the origins of the album title.

“I was watching a documentary about World War II bombers and saw the name painted on the side of one of the aircraft,” says singer Ricky Warwick. “The name just resonated with me and it seemed to encapsulate the turmoil that we, as a society, are currently experiencing. The past few years have been such a wild ride and now with the release of the album, it sounded like a bad-ass album title that summed up what Black Star Riders is all about.”

The band features Warwick, guitarists Damon Johnson and Scott Gorham, bassist Marco Mendoza and drummer Jimmy DeGrasso.

Black Star Riders have just released their debut single, “Bound For Glory” – the track and the album were produced & mixed by Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Rush).

“All Hell Breaks Loose” will be released worldwide on the following dates:

May 21st – Japan
May 22nd - Sweden
May 24th – Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Norway, Australia
May 27th – UK, France, BeNeLux, Poland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Greece, Ireland
