Rolling Stones: Additional $85 tickets to be made available for tour

The Rolling Stones have announced that they will be making additional $85 tickets available to shows on their upcoming “50 & Counting” North American tour.

Fan demand for the low-price tickets was so great when seats originally went on sale that they immediately sold-out.

Now, the Stones have revealed that fans may now have a second opportunity to but the special $85 tickets.

Tickets will be available once the band’s staging and production is loaded in to the venue and additional seating availability can be determined.

Some tickets will be among the best seats in the house - in the Tongue Pit - with others spread around the arena.

To be part of the special opportunity, fan must register now at the Stones facebook page here.

Registered fans will be notified the day of show if these seats will be available for the concert in their city.

The Stones will launch their “50 & Counting” arena tour at the Staples Center in Los Angeles this Friday May 3; the original May 2 show was moved due to the NBA playoff schedule. Tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled date.

The tour will see the Stones play 17 shows across North America, wrapping up June 21 in Philadelphia.

AUDIO: Hear LL Cool J’s new songs with Eddie Van Halen

This spring, Eddie Van Halen surprised fans when he revealed that he had collaborated with LL Cool J on two tracks on the veteran rapper's new album, “Authentic.”

In stores today, “Authentic” includes performances by Van Halen on "We're The Greatest" and "Not Leaving You Tonight." Both tracks can be heard below.

"The thought of me playing guitar to hip hop was definitely left of center, but I was intrigued and I agreed to meet and listen to what he had,” Eddie told Guitar World recently. “I was not only inspired by the songs I heard, but LL's enthusiasm, his down-to-earth personality, the freedom he gave me to co-create and his willingness to, for the very first time, sing the chorus on 'We're the Greatest.' It was like a breath of fresh air that I needed as an artist and an individual."

When asked why he choose to reach out to the iconic guitarist, LL Cool J explained, “This album was born out of my true love for music and I knew Eddie shared that same vision for authentic music. I approached this song with the upmost respect for Eddie and his fans, and became friends with him through the process. I was humbled to watch a genius at work and collaborate with such a legendary and visionary artist as Eddie Van Halen, and to bring our two worlds together, was an exciting opportunity. I am thrilled he was up for the ride.”

Eddie has made guest appearances on projects throughout his career, including records by Michael Jackson, Roger Waters, Steve Lukather, Dweezil Zappa, Thomas Dolby and Nicolette Larson.

Rare AC/DC items set for Bon Fest 2013

Rare AC/DC items are set to go on display in Bon Scott’s former home town of Kirriemuir, Scotland in time for Bon Fest 2013.

Set for May 4th and 5th, the annual event celebrates the life and music of the late AC/DC frontman, who died in 1980 at the age of 33.

The Courier reports collector Neil McDonald has loaned even more memorabilia celebrating Bon Scott’s place in rock history to the attraction in the town square.

Neil, who has the biggest collection of Scott memorabilia in the UK, told The Courier: “In addition to the permanent Bon Scott display, the museum has decided to use one additional case for Bon Fest this year. Consequently I have provided them with several more rare items of memorabilia — some of which I have never displayed before. These include an extremely rare reel-to-reel tape from 1979 of tracks from the then forthcoming album 'Highway To Hell,' which was produced at Basing Street Studios in London.”

“To promote the continuing legacy of Bon Scott,” continued McDonald, “there are also a number of Bon-related items which have been produced since he died in 1980.”

Items already on display include a “Let There Be Rock” 1977 UK LP which is possibly the only one in existence, and a rare Australian cassette album, “12 Of The Best,” which was an AC/DC best-of album scheduled for release in 1978 but scrapped at the last minute.

Bon Scott was born Ronald Belford Scott in Forfar, Scotland in 1946 and lived in Kirriemuir until 1952, when his family moved to Australia.
