The Allman Brothers Band are previewing “Statesboro Blues” from their forthcoming archival release, “Play All Night: Live at the Beacon Theater 1992”, due February 18.
Rolling Stone reports the two-disc set is taken from the band's very first Beacon residency.
"That night contained a particularly swampy version of 'Statesboro Blues': different from the famed [1971's At Fillmore East] version, but reminiscent nonetheless," says Warren Haynes, who had recently joined the band at the time of the shows.
"It's a good boogie,” adds Gregg Allman. “You know, people like it. It's got soul, you know what I mean?"
The Allman Brothers Band have just announced their 2014 series of shows at the Beacon.
The group’s 10-show residency starts on March 7, and will include shows on March 8, March 11-12, March 14-15, March 18-19 and March 21-22.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 10 at 10 a.m. ET.
