Pearl Jam performed their 1991 debut, “Ten”, in its entirety at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA on April 29.
The band played the complete album for the first time in the US and only the second time in history, following a March 13, 1992 set at the Nachtwerk club in Munich, Germany.
“Ten” marks its 25th anniversary this year and the group’s second show in Philadelphia also delivered Pearl Jam their 10th consecutive sell-out at the venue, which honored the band with a banner in the rafters.
The 32-song set clocked in at almost 3 hours in length and also featured covers of tunes by Pink Floyd, Wayne Cochran, Neil Young, Dead Boys and The Who.
It’s the second full-album performance on the Seattle rockers current North American tour: they played 1993’s “Vs.” in Greenville, SC on April 16.
Pearl Jam’s spring shows wrap up May 11 in Toronto, ON before the band plays Bonnaroo in June, two festivals in July and pairs of stadium shows this summer at Boston, MA’s Fenway Park and Chicago, IL’s Wrigley Field.
Ghost recently unplugged for a cover of Roky Erickson’s "If You Have Ghosts" as part of an afternoon visit and performance at KLAQ-FM in El Paso, TX on April 22.
The Swedish band covered the tune as the title track to their 2013 Dave Grohl-produced EP after it originally appeared on Erickson’s 1981 album with The Aliens, “The Evil One.”
The legendary Austin guitarist was a founding member of The 13th Floor Elevators and a pioneer of the psychedelic rock genre.
While at the El Paso station, Ghostalso performed “Jigolo Har Megiddo” from 2013's “Infestissumam” and “He Is” from their latest release, “Meliora”, ahead of their show later that evening at Tricky Falls.
Surviving Motorhead members Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee will join Saxon on stage to play a special one-off set of Saxon and Motorhead classics in a unique Salute To Lemmy at this year's Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards show at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith on June 13.
"Lemmy was a great friend and he always supported our band - as we did Motörhead - through ups and downs," says Saxon's Biff Byford. "We were touring with them when he died, so to be able to honour him at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods is a great opportunity to say goodbye."
"The Metal Hammer Golden Gods are about more than those who we honour on the night," adds Metal Hammer Editor-In-Chief and Team Rock Executive Director Alexander Milas. "It's about letting the proverbial hair down and partying with the readers who've supported us for all these years, and the first act we're announcing for the night is sure to be emotional.
“A salute to Lemmy Kilmister with Saxon and Motӧrhead's surviving members Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee is going to bring the house down, and means that June 13th will be one for the history books."
Metal Hammer have teamed up with Pinewood Live to film the event. Pinewood Live is part of the work-renowned Pinewood Studios, who are celebrating their 80th anniversary this year.
Tickets for the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards are priced at just £6.66 and are on sale now.
Sixx:A.M. are streaming their new album, “Prayers For The Damned”, in full to mark the project’s release.
The band’s fourth record is the first of a double album project that will see a second volume surface later this year.
"Between this album and Vol. 2,” says frontman James Michael, “we'll leave no stone unturned in our quest to create important music and push the boundaries of rock."
Bassist Nikki Sixx is now available full-time for the group following the completion of Motley Crue’s farewell tour, which wrapped up at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve, and the same applies to guitarist DJ Ashbafollowing his exit from Guns N’ Roses in 2015 after six years with that band.
“Sixx:A.M. is in the most creative place of our careers,” explains Sixx. “For James, DJ and myself, we think it’s the perfect time to release so much quality music to our fans who’ve been supporting us over the last 3 albums.”
The trio will launch their world tour in Jacksonville, FL on April 30.
David Lee Roth shares some vintage Van Halen tour stories on the latest edition of The Roth Show.
In the episode entitled “Black Christmas Tree”, the rocker recounts tales of how the band and road crew worked together to keep the party going long after the concert ended.
Van Halen were legendary for their post-show parties back in the day, as they built their own portable road gear to ensure the fun offstage matched the intensity of the on stage appearance wherever they were.
Roth hired a “Recreational Director” to organize post-show events, and when a specialist wasn’t available, the road crew would step up.
“Rudy the guitar tech invents ‘The Later’, kind of a fruity drink loaded with rum or vodka or something,” explains Roth. “We called it ‘Later’ because you’d be later for the dance than you ever thought you’d be.
“We would have these parties, especially if you’re playing multiple nights in a city – two, three nights at the local arena – and after the first night we’d have a big party. And then Rudy invented the “Super Laters”, because they’d make you later for the dance than even ‘the Laters’ would make you late.
“This gets complicated. We had to build him a special road case, like six-and-a-half feet tall; it opened up like a closet with three big sections containing three industrial strength blenders, circuit breakers, a car stereo, mixing gear, disco lights and an ice bucket. It was called ‘Raving Rude’s Libation Station.’ The biggest road case anyone had ever seen, and we would set up a tent in the open air and have a rompin, stompin’ BBQ.”
ZZ Top have postponed more US dates on their current North American tour following an injury to bassist Dusty Hill in Lubbock, TX on April 14.
Hill suffered a dislocated shoulder in the incident as he was preparing to take the stage on the band’s Hell Raisers tour.
“Dusty was suited up and ready to go when he tripped on a step while on his way to the stage for the start of the show,” says manager Carl Stubner. “It was very dark back there and the step – really a half-step – wasn’t lit so there’s no way he could’ve seen it. We found out that others had missed it and stumbled earlier in the day. Maybe some strategic lighting could’ve prevented this, but that’s water under the bridge. What’s important now is that Dusty and his medical team to do what’s necessary for a complete recovery.”
“My physicians told me that this type of injury is usually associated with contact sports,” explains the bassist. “I’m not sure bass-playing qualifies as such but they’re doing their best to get me back in the game as soon as possible. Thanks to everyone for all the good wishes we’ve received. We’re determined to enjoy a speedy recovery and see you soon!”
The Scorpions have hired Motorhead drummer Mikkey Dee to fill-in for James Kottack on their upcoming spring US tour.
Kottak is currently on break while he seeks medical attention for undisclosed reasons, according to the band.
“We would like to continue our Return to Forever tour with James, but we have to realize that his health is priority,” says singer Klaus Meine. “We wish James a speedy recovery and he will be back to rock with us very soon! We look forward to seeing all our fans next month.”
The 12-date run will begin with an appearance at the Carolina Rebellion in Charlotte on May 6 and include a 5-show residency, “Blacked Out In Vegas”, at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino where they’ll be joined by special guests Queensryche.
The package presents seven bonus tracks alongside the original record, plus two brand-new live DVDs presenting two complete concerts from last year.
The set includes the group’s open air gig at the French Hellfest Festival in June, and their show at the Barclays Center in New York featuring an impressive guest performance on “No One Like You” by twelve-year-old guitarist Brandon Niederauer.

Neil Young and The Promise Of The Real will release a new live album, “Earth”, on June 17.
The set mixes 2015 concert readings with the Promise Of The Real band – featuring Willie Nelson’s sons Micah and Lukas – alongside ambient elements like car horns, insects and animal sounds.
“Ninety-eight uninterrupted minutes long, Earth flows as a collection of 13 songs from throughout my life, songs I have written about living here on our planet together,” explains Young. “Our animal kingdom is well represented in the audience as well, and the animals, insects, birds and mammals actually take over the performances of the songs at times.”
The project offers 12 tracks from Young’s career and “I Won’t Quit”, an unreleased tune the rocker debuted at Farm Aid 30 in Chicago, IL last September.
"I'm very happy with what I'm doing,"Young told Rolling Stone earlier this spring about the project. "I don't know what its place is in the world, but I like it. I feel really good and amped and energized. And I feel like I'm doing something that I've never done before. It's not just music. It's a soundscape. It's kind of like flying around listening to things with your eyes closed."
Young will host the first public playback of “Earth” via his Pono high definition fidelity audio format at The Natural History Museum in Los Angeles, CA on Friday, May 6.
The “An Evening With Neil Young” event will also feature the musician discussing the creation of the new LP and is being presented as part of the museum’s First Fridays series. More details and tickets are available here.
Young and Promise Of The Real launched their spring 2016 dates this week in New Braunfels, TX; they’ll play the new Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 1 and a launch a European tour in Glasgow, Scotland on June 5.

(L-R) Sculptor John McKenna, Bon Scott statue, AC/DC bassist Mark Evans
A statue of AC/DC legend Bon Scott will be officially unveiled in the late singer’s Scottish hometown of Kirriemuir this weekend.
The Courier reports £45,000, 450kg bronze statue – funded by fans around the world – is the first in the country of the late rocker, who was born in Kirriemuir, Angus, but moved to Australia with his family when he was six.
The AC/DC landmark will have its official unveiling this Saturday as part of the 10th annual BonFest, a three-day music festival celebrating the singer’s roots.
“It’s amazing how many people don’t know that Bon Scott came from Kirriemuir,” says BonFest chairman John Crawford. “People know about J.M. Barrie and Peter Pan, but they are both famous sons of the town and there is room for them both.”
"In 2008, Bon's Australian home town, Fremantle, unveiled a statue of him. At that point we started thinking it might be good to have one here where he started his life,” said DD8 Music development worker Graham Galloway. "The unveiling will take place on Saturday, 30th of April, and will be carried out by some very special guests: Mark Evans, bass player on four of the Bon-era albums; Tony Currenti, drummer on AC/DC's first album; and Mary Renshaw, Bon's seamstress and 'soulmate.'
"We are looking at a total attendance of 3,700 and are expecting fans from all over the world to travel. We have confirmed travellers from the USA, Canada, Spain, Italy, Norway, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand. All in all, it is shaping up to be an amazing weekend."
The statue, which took sculptor John McKenna three years to complete, presents a legendary Scott pose and is surrounded by a mosaic featuring his lyrics from a 1977 AC/DC classic: “And the music was good and the music was loud, and the singer turned to the crowd and said ‘Let there be rock’.”
Scott died in 1980 at the age of 33 after a night of heavy drinking in London.
Full details on the annual weekend event are available at bonfest.com
Dee Snider with his son Jesse at Ultimate Jam Night
Twister Sister frontman Dee Snider performed the AC/DC classic, “Highway To Hell”, during a surprise appearance at the Whisky A Go Go’s Ultimate Jam Night in Hollywood on April 26.
“People were calling me saying I should audition for AC/DC,” Snider told the crowd. “I said ‘I was too tall.’”
Event host and son Jesse Snider joined his father on the AC/DC tune, and Dee took center stage for the Twisted Sister smash “We’re Not Gonna Take It.”
Launched by Quiet Riot bassist Chuck Wright more than a year ago, the Ultimate Jam Night recently moved its weekly home from the Lucky Strike to the famed Whisky.
Other guest performers at the April 26 show included former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, former Megadeth bassist James Lomenzo, Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali and Chickenfoot drummer Kenny Aronoff.
Stevie Nicks performed the Fleetwood Mac classic, “Rhiannon”, with the cast of Broadway’s School Of Rock at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York on Tuesday and video from the show is available.
Based on the smash 2003 film of the same name starring Jack Black, Broadway World reports Nicks surprised the audience when she joined the cast after their curtain call for the hit from Fleetwood Mac’s self-titled 1975 album.
"To be in the presence of these kids that are so amazing that honestly sometimes I close my eyes and I'm not sure that it's not Fleetwood Mac,” Nicks told the crowd. “It's very trippy. They are so good."
After the performance, Nicks admitted that the appearance marked her first time on a Broadway stage.
"I think this is my Broadway debut, and I'm thrilled,” she said. “It was like being somewhere between eight and 13 again. I can't wait to send a tape of this to Lindsey [Buckingham] and my other guitar player, Waddy [Wachtel], because they're gonna die. They're not gonna believe it. They're so good."
School Of Rock – The Musical, which opened last December, features music from the movie as well as an original score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Glenn Slater, with a book by Julian Fellowes and direction by Laurence Connor.
Prior to her Broadway debut, Nicks joined the School Of Rock cast to perform “Rhiannon” at the 30th Annual Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Easter Bonnet Competition at the Minskoff Theatre.
Celebrating six weeks of fundraising by 58 Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies, the Easter Bonnet Competition raised a record-shattering $5,528,568 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the largest grand total from either an Easter Bonnet Competition or Gypsy of the Year fundraising campaign in Broadway Cares history.
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is one of the nation’s leading industry‐based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant‐making organizations. By drawing upon the talents, resources and generosity of the American theatre community, since 1988 BC/EFA has raised more than $285 million for essential services for people with AIDS and other critical illnesses across the United States.

The trek will mark the group's first appearance in Australia in almost a decade, and their first shows in the country with singer Todd La Torre, who joined the lineup in 2012 following a split with original frontman Geoff Tate.

Ace Frehley reunites with former KISS bandmate Paul Stanley in a new video featuring the Free classic, “Fire And Water”, a track from Frehley’s all-star covers album, “Origins Vol. 1.”
The original lead guitarist for KISS is premiering the video today to mark his 65th birthday.
“I thought Paul did a fabulous vocal on it,"Frehley tells Rolling Stone. "He jumped at the chance to do this because it's something that's outside of KISS and his character in KISS, and it gave him a chance to, you know, sing. With Paul, you usually think of him singing in a slightly higher register and on 'Fire and Water,' he's singing deep from his diaphragm, and it's a real cool vocal.”
"I was happy Ace called me up with this,”says Stanley. “It's very funny, because on my phone when he called, his name comes up, and it put a smile on my face. Like, I pick up the phone and go, 'Ace Frehley!'"
"I have no anger," adds Stanley over the pair’s history and longtime relationship. "I'm sitting in an amazingly beautiful house with an incredible family, an amazing wife, an amazing life, and it's all built on KISS. And the foundation of KISS is something Ace is a part of. We couldn't have built this without him. He's part of it."
“Origins Vol. 1” sees Frehley joined by a variety of guests to deliver new versions of tracks by Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Steppenwolf, among others.
Guests include Slash, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Lita Ford and John 5.
Iron Maiden made their Chinese debut at Beijing’s LeSports Center on April 24 and video from the show has surfaced.
Polish Iron Maiden fan club SanktuariuM reports the band performed the standard setlist from “The Book of Souls” world tour, but the show did feature a few changes.
From a production standpoint, there were no pyrotechnics during the concert and the band members were reportedly not allowed to throw items like wristbands and drumsticks into the crowd.
Iron Maiden did, however, make some minor alterations to their content: during “The Trooper”, frontman Bruce Dickinson did not wave the Union Jack flag as usual, and he changed a line in the title track to 1984’s “Powerslave” – “Tell me why I had to be a Powerslave" was presented as "Tell me why I had to be a Wicker Man."
The Beijing show was followed by a date at Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena on April 26.
Following their Chinese debut, Iron Maiden will perform two shows in New Zealand this weekend ahead of shows in Australia and South Africa next month.

“As you can see I’m sporting shades today,” Papa Emeritus III told the audience. “It’s because I have an eye infection. Come see us in the fall and I will not wear them and you will have the full eye experience.”
The band also performed “He Is” from their latest release “Meliora”, and a cover of Roky Erickson’s "If You Have Ghosts" from their 2013 Dave Grohl-produced EP of the same name.
In February, Ghost were honored for “Meliora”with their first Grammy Award in the Best Metal Performance category for the single, “Cirice”, and a Swedish Grammis Award for the "Best Hard Rock/Metal Album" of the year.
Ghost’s spring US tour will wrap up May 22 in Albany, NY, followed by a series of summer European dates.
Axl Rose revealed his current favorite AC/DC song as he was caught on video Monday rolling through Los Angeles International Airport on a scooter en route to join the Australian band for rehearsals ahead of their European tour next month.
Rose will be fronting the group for the remaining dates on their Rock Or Bust tour after Brian Johnson was advised by doctors to stop performing immediately or risk total hearing loss.
AC/DC’s European shows with Rose will begin May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal.
TMZ touched base with Rose on AC/DC at LAX and asked him about Guns N’ Roses recent pair of headlining sets at Coachella.
“The shows went really good,” said Axl. “The crowd was amazing. It was really nice. The first show was good. The second show was more fun.The crowd was even more responsive."

Metallica revisited their garage days by returning to the San Francisco Bay area house they called home in the 1980s as part of a Record Store Day celebration on April 16.
Joined by friends, family and crew, the group returned to 3132 Carlson Boulevard in El Cerrito, CA for a homecoming event that included a proclamation from Mayor Greg Lyman recognizing their roots in the city.
“This is unbelievable to be back in this place,”James Hetfield told the crowd. “I think we’ve all kind of forgotten a lot of stuff that’s happened in our history and this is a great way to jog our memories and to see people’s faces here, as well. We are so grateful for everyone that’s here and has been a part of this with us.
“We’re just extremely grateful to still be rocking and playing after all these years, doing what we love doing…that doesn’t happen to everybody.”
In 1983, Metallica relocated to the Bay Area from Los Angeles as a condition of bassist Cliff Burton joining the band.
The new lineup went on to write and rehearse much of 1984’s “Ride The Lightning” and 1986’s “Master Of Puppets” in the garage at what became known as the “Metalli-mansion.”
“A couple of years ago,” drummer Lars Ulrich said, “we thought it would be cool to come over and see if we could buy the garage from the people who lived here, and we were going to put it inside HQ over in Marin, but the garage is long gone.
“Whoever’s got the garage, please return it, because maybe we would finish the new record quicker if we were in that garage.”
Guns N’ Roses returned to Coachella on April 23 for an encore performance as headliners during the annual festival’s second weekend.
The seventh show of the group’s reunion tour featured two debuts: “Out ta Get Me” from 1987’s “Appetite For Destruction” and “Used To Love Her” from 1988’s “Lies.”
Rumours circulated ahead of the show that Guns N’ Roses might deliver a tribute to Prince, who passed away on April 21 at the age of 57.
“I had a bootleg laser disc…do you know what a laser disc is?,”Axl Rose asked the crowd after explaining the band didn’t have time to fully prepare a proper tribute. “A laser disc is like a big Frisbee, a CD of Purple Rain. Duff is a huge fan. Anyway, we don’t want to dedicate a song; we’ll dedicate the whole show and everything to the memory of Prince.”
Duff McKagan offered his own personal tribute by playing a white bass during the show that featured a purple decal of Prince's symbol.
The Coachella appearance wraps up the spring preview of Guns N’ Roses reunion run, which will launch a summer stadium tour of North America at Ford Field in Detroit, MI on June 23.
Ahead of that, Axl Rose will join AC/DC in place of Brian Johnson for the Australian band’s European tour, which starts May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal.
Longtime frontman Brian Johnson has issued a statement following news that the group has hired Axl Rose to finish out the band’s 2016’s Rock Or Bust tour dates.
