VIDEO: Deep Purple preview From Here To InFinite documentary

Deep Purple are streaming a video preview of their documentary, “From Here To inFinite”, ahead of its Blu-ray release on November 3.

The project presents an inside look at the development and recording of the group’s 20th album, “inFinite.”

Produced by Bob Ezrin during sessions in Nashville, TN last year, the band’s 20th studio effort was issued in April.

The documentary delivers two hours of bonus material, including music videos, three previously unreleased live clips ("Time For Bedlam", "Birds Of Prey" and "Smoke On The Water") – all filmed and recorded at Hellfest 2017 – as well as in-depth behind the scenes footage, movie documentary outtakes, interviews, and an audio commentary by band members themselves.

A 2-disc Gold Edition of “inFinite” will also be released on November 3; the package presents the original album alongside a bonus disc of a previously unreleased 80-minute live show from France’s Hellfest.

Deep Purple will resume their “inFinite – The Long Goodbye Tour” with dates in Europe beginning November 6 in Stockholm, Sweden.

VIDEO: David Gilmour performs on BBC’s Front Row

David Gilmour made a rare guest appearance on BBC2’s “Front Row” program on October 28, and video from the show is streaming online.

The guitarist joined host and noted UK historian Mary Beard to discuss his recently-issued “Live At Pompeii” concert film, which captured his 2016 concerts at the ancient Roman amphitheatre and marked his return to the site 45 years after he first played there for Adrian Maben's classic film, “Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii.”

Directed by Gavin Elder, the set sees Gilmour mix solo tracks and Pink Floyd classics, including the rarely-played “The Great Gig In The Sky” from “The Dark Side Of The Moon.”

The BBC appearance also featured a live, in-studio performance of “A Boat Lies Waiting”, from the guitarist’s 2015 album, “Rattle That Lock.”

“Live At Pompeii” recently debuted at No. 3 on the UK album charts to deliver Gilmour his fourth UK Top 10 release.

The 2017 project is now available on 2-CD, Blu-ray, 2-DVD, 4-LP, deluxe Blu-ray box and digital download.

PRO VIDEO: Metallica rock Queen classic in Manchester

photo: Jeff Yeager / Metallica

Metallica performed the Queen classic, “Stone Cold Crazy”, at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England on October 28, and the band are streaming professional footage from the show.

The tune – which first appeared on Queen’s 1974 release, “Sheer Heart Attack” – earned Metallica a 1991 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance when it appeared as a b-side to their worldwide hit, “Enter Sandman.”

Metallica are currently in the final week of live dates for 2017 as they tour in support of their latest album, “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.”

The fall leg across Europe wraps up in Antwerp, Belgium on November 3, following which the band will return home to headline a November 9 benefit concert at San Francisco's AT&T Park for those affected by the recent wildfires in California.

The longtime Bay Area residents will be joined by the Dave Matthews Band, G-Eazy, Rancid, Dead And Company and more for the event that will raise funds to assist families impacted by the fires and honor the thousands of first responders.

Metallica will return to live action with a spring 2018 run that will open in Lisbon, Portugal on February 1.

AUDIO: Ramones preview Rocket To Russia 40th anniversary reissue

The Ramones are streaming a rough mix of “Cretin Hop” as a preview to the November 24 release of an expanded 40th anniversary reissue of their 1977 album, “Rocket To Russia.”

The track is included on a disc of bonus material from sessions at New York’s Power Station as part of a 3CD Deluxe Edition that also delivers the record’s original mix alongside a new 40th anniversary one by the album's original engineer/mixer, Ed Stasium, and a third disc that presents a complete unreleased concert recording of the band’s December 19, 1977 show at the Apollo Centre in Glasgow, Scotland - just days before the group recorded the classic live album, “It’s Alive”, in London, UK.

The Deluxe Edition will be produced in a limited and numbered edition and comes packaged in a 12 x 12 hardcover book. Along with the music, the set also features stories about the band by Sire Records founder Seymour Stein, details about making the album by Stasium, and extensive liner notes by renowned music writer and co-founder of Creem Magazine, Jaan Uhelszki.

Dave Grohl to host Halloween episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live

Dave Grohl will host the Halloween episode of ABC-TV’s Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday, October 31.

The Foo Fighters frontman will be joined on the program by actress Kristen Bell and musical guest Alice Cooper.

Grohl will sit in during a week of guest hosts in place of Kimmel, who is off with his family as they prepare for heart surgery on his infant son Billy.

"As a precautionary measure, the scheduled second heart surgery for Jimmy Kimmel's son Billy had to be postponed this week due to the common cold,” said a show representative. “Jimmy is very grateful to Shaquille O'Neal, Dave Grohl, Channing Tatum and Jennifer Lawrence for filling his very small shoes as guest hosts this week while he, his wife and children sneeze on each other."

Billy underwent the first of three planned heart surgeries just three days following his birth in April after being diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect.

Grohl and the Foo Fighters are currently playing dates across the US in support of the recently-released "Concrete And Gold" album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

The fall shows will wrap up in Salt lake City, UT on December 12.

“Xanadu” follows “Turn To Stone” as the latest preview of the project directed by Paul Dugdale.

PRO VIDEO: Metallica perform 1988 classic in Glasgow

photo: Jeff Yeager / Metallica

Metallica performed the “...And Justice For All” track “Harvester Of Sorrow” at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland on October 26, and the band are sharing professional footage from the event.

The first single from the group’s 1988 album helped the project peak at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 on its way to US sales of more than 8 million copies.

The Glasgow appearance is part of the fall European leg of Metallica’s WorldWired tour in support of “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.”

After the run wraps up in Antwerp, Belgium on November 3, the band will return home to headline a November 9 benefit concert at San Francisco's AT&T Park for those affected by the recent wildfires in California.

The longtime Bay Area residents will be joined by the Dave Matthews Band, G-Eazy, Rancid, Dead And Company and more for the event that will raise funds to assist families impacted by the fires and honor the thousands of first responders.

“Earlier this month Northern California, the community that we have called home for over 34 years, suffered devastating wildfires that have destroyed homes and displaced over 100,000 of our neighbours in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake and other counties in the North Bay,” explains Metallica. “We’re extremely saddened by the suffering that so many are feeling in the Bay Area, but are also inspired by the enormous outpouring of love and support from all around the country and want to jump in and help in the way we know how to - through music!

“All funds from ticket sales will benefit Tipping Point Community, who have set up an Emergency Relief Fund for low-income, vulnerable communities impacted by the crisis, including vineyard workers, immigrants, displaced young people, and students. 100% of the ticket price will be donated to this fund and you can learn more about them at TippingPoint.org.

“We hope you’ll join us on November 9th in assisting our friends and neighbors who have lost so much, but if you cannot attend the show and would still like to contribute, you may donate directly to Tipping Point.

"You may also donate to the Metallica All Within My Hands Foundation through the Foundation's Facebook page. All Within My Hands will be making a donation to Tipping Point Community, and 100% of your contribution will be included.”

VIDEO: Linkin Park host Chester Bennington tribute concert

Linkin Park hosted a tribute concert in honor of their late bandmate, Chester Bennington, at the Hollywood Bowl on October 27, and official video of the full event is available online.

Streamed live by hennemusic, the tribute saw appearances by members of Avenged Sevenfold, Bring Me The Horizon, Blink-182, Alanis Morissette, Bush, Korn, No Doubt, Steve Aoki, Sum 41, Echosmith, Machine Gun Kelly and System Of A Down, among others.

"I don't have the words," said Mike Shinoda as he greeted the sold-out crowd, reports Rolling Stone. "I don't think any of us do."

Just three songs into the evening, Linkin Park delivered an instrumental version of their 2004 US Top 15 hit, “Numb”, with an empty microphone stand at center stage while the crowd of more than 17,000 sang along in place of Bennington, who committed suicide at his Los Angeles area home on July 20 the age of 41.

Midway into the concert, Shinoda described the moment he learned of his singing partner's death, and he shared a solo version of new song "Looking For An Answer", which he said was written just eight days later.

The evening built to a dramatic and raucous finale of Linkin Park’s 2007 classic, “Bleed It Out”, with all of the evening’s guests returning to help the group close out the tribute event.

Linkin Park are asking fans to donate to their One More Light Fund in memory of Bennington as they work to bring attention to the issue of mental health.

“Thank you to everyone for being a part of our show in honor of Chester at the Hollywood Bowl,” shared the group on their social media sites.

hennemusic LIVE: Linkin Park host Chester Bennington tribute concert

The event sees appearances by Avenged Sevenfold, Bring Me The Horizon, Blink-182, Korn, Machine Gun Kelly and System Of A Down, among others.

Bennington committed suicide at his Los Angeles area home on July 20 the age of 41.

Survived by his wife, Talinda, and six children, the singer was laid to rest in private ceremony at South Coast Botanic Garden near his home on July 29 that was attended by his family, closest friends and fellow musicians.

Queen stream unreleased Freddie Mercury version of All Dead, All Dead

Queen are streaming a previously unreleased alternate version of “All Dead, All Dead” - featuring Freddie Mercury on lead vocals – as the latest preview to the upcoming November 17 release of a 40th anniversary box set edition of their 1977 album classic, “News Of The World.”

Originally sung by guitarist Bran May, the Mercury version is included on a disc billed as the “Raw Sessions”, which presents recently unearthed out-takes and rarities of each track from the record.

"That's one of my favourites,” said May in a 1983 interview with Guitar Player magazine about the tune, written by the guitarist about his experiences following the death of his childhood pet cat. “That was one of the ones which I thought came off best, and I was really pleased with the sound. It always gives me a surprise when I listen to it because it was meant to really bring tears to your eyes. It almost does it to me."

Queen are presenting an exclusive hybrid version that moulds the Raw Sessions version of “All Dead, All Dead” with elements of the main "News Of The World" album version, delivered in a new animated lyric video by directors Jason Jameson and Robert Milne of Unanico Studios.

The clip tells the story of Pixie the cat, lost in a kingdom of cogs and pipes, wires and circuit boards. The mysterious whereabouts of Pixie’s world are later revealed. Brian and Unanico Studios drew inspiration from Bruno Bozzetto’s animated opus "Allegro Non Troppo", the 1976 film itself featuring a wandering feline as one of its protagonists.

“Jason, Robert and I are honoured to have worked with Brian to create a visual world for this fresh and emotional version of ‘All Dead All Dead’,” says producer Paul Laikin: “The cat in the video is inspired by photos Brian showed us of his childhood pet, and we hope it is also a fitting tribute to Freddie Mercury, who was devoted to his own cats.”

The 40th anniversary box set reissue presents Bob Ludwig’s 2011 remaster of the album alongside two discs of bonus tracks, a DVD of a new one-hour documentary, and a pure analogue re-cut of the original vinyl LP direct from the unmastered analogue master mix tapes.

Queen have previously shared unreleased alternate versions of “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions” from the upcoming package

VIDEO: Guns N’ Roses perform tribute to late AC/DC producer George Young

Guns N’ Roses performed the AC/DC classic, “Whole Lotta Rosie”, in Hartford, CT on October 23 as a tribute to the Australian band’s late producer George Young, and video from the concert has surfaced online.

"This next song we're gonna do this for a friend of ours and dedicate it to his brother who just passed away," Axl Rose told the crowd at the city’s XL Center. “So, this is for Angus Young and this is dedicated to George Young, who actually produced this song.”

George Young – the older brother of AC/DC guitarists Angus and Malcolm Youngpassed away on October 22 at the age of 70.

“It is with pain in our heart that we have to announce the passing of our beloved brother and mentor George Young,” said the brothers in a statement. “Without his help and guidance there would not have been an AC/DC.

“As a musician, songwriter, producer, advisor and much, much more, you could not ask for a more dedicated and professional man. As a brother, you could not ask for a finer brother. For all he did and gave to us throughout his life, we will always remember him with gratitude and hold him close to our hearts.”

Originally based in Glasgow, Scotland, most of the Young family emigrated to Australia in 1963, with George forming The Easybeats in Sydney a year later. The group scored a 1966 No. 1 hit in the members’ adopted homeland with “Friday On My Mind”, written by Young and guitarist Harry Vanda.

After The Easybeats disbanded in 1970, Vanda and Young became one of Australia's most successful songwriting duos and production teams.

The pair produced the first five AC/DC albums – from their 1975 debut, “High Voltage”, to “1978’s “Powerage”, as the band became stars in Australia while gaining pockets of support around the world.

Guns N” Roses frontman Axl Rose joined AC/DC for the final 2016 dates of their “Rock Or Bust” tour after singer Brian Johnson was advised by doctors to leave the trek due to hearing loss issues.

Angus has occasionally joined GNR on their Not In This Lifetime reunion tour, including a recent July 2017 appearance in Nijmegen, Netherlands.

Metallica break attendance record at London’s O2 Arena

Metallica made UK concert history this week by breaking the attendance record for shows at the O2 Arena in London.

According to IQ, a pair of Metallica dates at the venue – on October 22 and 24 – saw the group perform to a record-setting 22,211 people each night, beating the previous record of 21,000 set by Muse in 2016.

Metallica’s ‘in-the-round’ staging allowed for an extended seating capacity at the venue, and the band were honored with a specially-commissioned illustration by The O2’s Head Of Programming, Christian D’Acuna.

“It was an honour to host the heavy metal rock gods at the venue and they did not disappoint,” says D’Acuna. “Metallica smashed the highest attendance record during both of their shows at The O2. It was an honour to host the heavy metal rock gods at the venue and they did not disappoint, delivering an incredible show in the round, full of hits spanning their whole career.

“It’s been a great year for rock bands at The O2, with the likes of Green Day and Foo Fighters gracing our stage and Queens of the Stone Age and Deep Purple still to come. We hope the epic shows continue with our new 6k-capacity standing floor.”

The London appearances marked Metallica’s return to the road following a rare, month-long break from their WorldWired tour in support of “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.”

The fall European leg will wrap up with two dates in Antwerp, Belgium in early November before resuming with a spring 2018 run that will open in Lisbon, Portugal on February 1.

VIDEO: David Gilmour previews Pink Floyd classic from Live At Pompeii

David Gilmour is streaming footage of an excerpt of his performance of the 1975 Pink Floyd classic, “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”, from his newly-released “Live At Pompeii” concert film.

The track from the legendary UK band’s ninth album, “Wish You Were Here”, was written as a tribute to group cofounder Syd Barrett who, by sheer coincidence, shocked his former bandmates with a rare public appearance in the studio one day while they were recording vocals to the song.

Directed by Gavin Elder, “Live At Pompeii” features Gilmour’s 2016 concerts in support of the album at the ancient Roman amphitheatre, which marked his return to the site 45 years after he first played there for Adrian Maben's classic film, “Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii.”

The guitarist mixes solo tracks and Pink Floyd classics on the set, which recently debuted at No. 3 on the UK album charts to deliver Gilmour his fourth UK Top 10 release.

The 2017 project is now available on 2-CD, Blu-ray, 2-DVD, 4-LP, deluxe Blu-ray box and digital download.

Metallica to headline California wildfire relief benefit concert

Metallica will headline a November 9 benefit concert at San Francisco's AT&T Park for those affected by the recent wildfires in California.

The metal icons – and longtime Bay Area residents – will be joined by the Dave Matthews Band, G-Eazy and more for the event that will raise funds to assist families impacted by the fires and honor the thousands of first responders.

“Earlier this month Northern California, the community that we have called home for over 34 years, suffered devastating wildfires that have destroyed homes and displaced over 100,000 of our neighbours in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake and other counties in the North Bay,” says Metallica.

“Fifth Members may purchase tickets during a pre-sale on Thursday, October 26 beginning at 10 AM, PDT through 10 PM, PDT. The public on sale is Friday, October 27 at 10 AM, PDT, both through Ticketmaster.com. Fifth Members can find their personal pre-sale code displayed on their Metallica.com profile.

“We hope you’ll join us on November 9th in assisting our friends and neighbors who have lost so much, but if you cannot attend the show and would still like to contribute, you may donate directly to Tipping Point. You may also donate to the Metallica All Within My Hands Foundation through the Foundation's Facebook page. All Within My Hands will be making a donation to Tipping Point Community, and 100% of your contribution will be included.”

For more information on the event, visit bandtogetherbayarea.org.

Metallica are currently playing dates in Europe as part of their WorldWired tour in support of “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct”; the fall run will wrap up in Antwerp, Belgium on November 3.

VIDEO: Foo Fighters rock The Pretender on Landmarks Live In Concert

The Foo Fighters are streaming a preview of a performance of their 2007 hit, “The Pretender”, from Athens, Greece as featured on the upcoming broadcast of the PBS series “Landmarks Live In Concert.”

Set to air November 10, the program – hosted by Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith – mixes interview material with the group’s July 10 show at the ancient Acropolis theater, which was built in 161 AD.

"We've done some crazy things over the last 20 years,” says Dave Grohl, “but I think this might be the craziest thing the Foo Fighters have ever done."

Captured in legendary destinations around the globe, the “artist-driven concert series” bills itself as being “as much about landmarks, as it is the music and the musicians who perform” on the program.

Currently on the road in support of the recently-released "Concrete And Gold" album, the Foo Fighters have just announced the first series of dates for a 2018 tour of North America.

A spring run will begin in Austin, TX on April 18, with shows running to early May, following which the group will begin a European trek in June.
