Alice Cooper recalls recent car accident in Phoenix

Alice Cooper is recalling the details of a recent car accident in his longtime hometown of Phoenix, AZ in a new interview with the city's KPNX 12 News.

The February 1 incident happened just three days before the rocker’s 70th birthday.

"I got in a head-on car collision," explains Cooper. "But nobody was hurt - both cars were demolished, but nobody was hurt. And I told the kid that ran into me, I told him, I said, 'Look, as long as you're walking away and I'm walking away, cars could be replaced.' We got banged up a litte bit, but nothing really special."

Hours after the event, Cooper tweeted: "Had a car accident this afternoon in Phoenix, but luckily everyone walked away UNHURT. “Very thankful for that and also to Dodge for building such a sturdy Challenger!!"

Cooper – who recently completed the spring 2018 leg of a North American tour in support of his latest album, “Paranormal” – has extended the trek with the release of newly-announced summer tour dates that will begin at the Wisconsin State Fair on August 3.

Ahead of the series, the singer will be on the road with The Hollywood Vampires for shows in North America and Europe in May and June.

Clutch announce second annual Earth Rocker Festival

Clutch have announced details for their second annual Earth Rocker Festival.

Billed after their 2013 album of the same name and set for Saturday, August 4 at Shiley Acres in Inwood, WV, the Maryland rockers will be joined by a lineup that includes Black Label Society, Corrosion Of Conformity, Eyehategod, and Let There Be Rock School band.

Like last year's inaugural offering, Shiley Acres and Clutch have worked together to make Earth Rocker Festival 18 a fan and band friendly event. The festival opens the gates at 12 noon and music runs all day ending right before the sun sets.

The festival has a designated camping location and will offer free camping on site the day and the night of the festival. Other fan friendly elements include free parking starting at 9am the day of the event, free admission for accompanied children under 12, and allows lawn chairs and pop up tents in designated areas.

“There will be plenty of good food, beer choices and all at reasonable prices,” says Shiley Acres owner Greg Shiley, “so come spend a summer afternoon enjoying the great bands and open air. We’ll make that real easy for ya”.

Tickets for the festival are $35 in advance and $45 at the gate the day of the festival and are on sale now here.

Full event details are available at

Clutch recently completed recording sessions for their forthcoming twelfth studio album; they worked on the follow-up to 2015’s “Psychic Warfare” with producer/engineer Vance Powell at Sputnik Sound studios in Nashville, TN.

The band will launch a series of spring US dates with an April 20 appearance at the Las Rageous Festival in Las Vegas, NV.

Anthrax preview Kings Among Scotland live DVD

Anthrax are streaming a video preview of their new live DVD “Kings Among Scotland”, ahead of its release on April 27.

Directed by Paul M. Green, the project delivers the group’s February 2017 show before a sold-out crowd at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom.

"Playing for our friends at the Barrowlands has always been very special," says bassist Frank Bello. "We all know we're going to get together and have an insanely great time, and we think that incredible interaction and energy really comes through on this video."

Anthrax’s live show on the spring 2017 tour was presented in two parts: a fan-voted favorites set followed by a performance of their 1987 album, “Among The Living”, in its entirety.

"It was a challenge for all of us to play 'Among The Living' live," admits drummer Charlie Benante. "We've played a number of that album's songs in our shows over the years, but not all of them, and playing a song in a recording studio is not the same as playing it live on stage. So we put in a lot of time to get all of the tracks down perfectly.

"And I'll tell you, after we finished that set, as arduous as it was, we all felt a sense of exhilaration, like we could go out and do it again."

Fans will note that the “Kings Among Scotland” artwork, created by Steve Thompson (Slayer, Motorhead, Iron Maiden), was inspired by KISS’ 1976 album, “Rock And Roll Over.”

Anthrax recently wrapped up a co-headlining tour of North America with Killswitch Engage; the band will support Slayer on the final North American tour when it launches in May alongside fellow openers Lamb Of God, Behemoth and Testament.

The Eagles: Glenn Frey wrongful death lawsuit update

The doctor and hospital that treated Eagles guitarist Glenn Frey are denying any responsibility for his death in their response to his widow’s wrongful death lawsuit.

Cindy Frey recently filed the suit against Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan over the January 18, 2016 passing of her late husband, accusing the hospital and gastroenterologist Steven Itzkowitz of negligence for failing to properly treat the rocker’s ulcerative colitis, diagnose and treat infection, and advise of the risks and side effects from treatment.

The complaint alleges that as a result of the negligence, “Glenn Frey was rendered sick, sore, lame and disabled,” and suffered pain and mental anguish prior to his death from what The Eagles announced as “complications from acute ulcerative colitis, pneumonia and rheumatoid arthritis.”

According to The Blast, the latest documents in the case see Mount Sinai Hospital and Dr. Steven Itzkowitz claim that “the injuries of the plaintiff were caused in whole or in part by the culpable conduct of the plaintiff” while seeking to have the case dismissed.

The late rocker’s career is being celebrated in a new 4-disc box set, “Above The Clouds: The Collection.”

Due for release on May 11, the 3CD/DVD package compiles the key elements of Frey's music both before and after The Eagles became international superstars, showcasing the broad range and wide influence of the Detroit-bred singer-songwriter in the process.

Frey’s son, Deacon, is now on the road with The Eagles as they play dates on an extensive 2018 North American tour that recently opened in Indianapolis, IN.

Ronnie Wood updates cancer status ahead of Rolling Stones tour

Ronnie Wood is sharing an update on his cancer status ahead of a summer European tour with The Rolling Stones.

Doctors discovered a small cancerous lesion on the guitarist’s left lung during a routine physical last spring, which was soon removed via surgery.

Now, the 70-year-old rocker reveals that he is cancer-free.

“I had three months of check-ups and it was all clear, and they said go and enjoy life,” Wood tells Metro. “I don’t want to lose my hair. If your body is riddled with cancer, it’s a losing cause. Luckily, all mine was contained within the left lung and I was fortunate enough to get shot of it, bang. There was none in the rest of my body so I didn’t require chemo.”

Wood maintains he has no regrets about his lifestyle choices through the years.

“No, not even smoking for England for over 50 years,” he explains. “It was a wonder I wasn’t riddled with cancer in both lungs. It’s a wonder they both didn’t explode.”

Asked if he had any messages for those who have been diagnosed with cancer, Wood adds, “Just be strong and remain positive. I was prepared to remain positive to my dying breath. I’ve had a great life and I was all ready to go. Wow! I didn’t know I was going to be given the ticket to last this long. What a reprieve.”

Wood and The Rolling Stones will return to live action in May when they launch the No Filter European tour at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland on May 17; the 14-show series will wrap up in Warsaw, Poland on July 8.

On the heels of a current European run, the trek will begin with a two-night stand at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, IL on June 5 and 6 before hitting 30 more cities – with additional shows to be revealed soon.

“Much has changed since I joined Yes in 1970, but the core elements of the band have remained consistent,” says guitarist Steve Howe. “We want to mark this anniversary with a tour that encompasses some of our best-loved work and revisit a few classic pieces that have been lost for a while. We look forward to sharing the 50th anniversary with the fanbase, playing classic songs that celebrate the broad musical style of Yes.”

The “Evening with Yes” shows will see the group perform a special classic hits set to commemorate the landmark occasion.

“I have been blessed to be a member of this amazing band’s rhythm section for the past 46 years, mostly in the company of my great friend Chris Squire, and latterly alongside Chris’ chosen successor, Billy Sherwood, who is receiving recognition for stepping into Chris’ pre-eminent bass and vocals,” adds drummer Alan White. “Each night we are pausing to reflect on Chris’ importance to Yes, his desire that we should continue to share Yes music on stages worldwide, and the specific dedication of ‘Onward’ to his huge memory.

“I’m so grateful to continue to be performing on stages for our dedicated fans and look forward to celebrating our 50th Anniversary in America. It has been a great ride!”

Tickets for the tour will go on sale to the public beginning this Friday, March 30 or Saturday, March 31, with select shows going on sale in early April – full details are available at

Def Leppard announces box set series

Def Leppard will release the first of four career-spanning box sets on June 1.

Available in limited-edition 180-gram heavyweight vinyl and CD box sets, “Volume One” features the UK band’s first four studio albums alongside bonus live and studio material

Def Leppard’s 1980 debut, “On Through The Night”, introduced the band to fans outside of the UK; 1981’s “High ’N’ Dry” reached Top 30 status in the UK and Top 40 in the US; 1983’s “Pyromania” broke the band worldwide with hits like “Photograph” and “Rock Of Ages” while earning Diamoand status in the US for sales of more than 10 million copies; and, 1987’s “Hysteria” became the group’s best-selling project at 25 million worldwide and earning a very rare second US Diamond album.

The Volume One collection delivers bonus material including “Live At The LA Forum 1983”, originally released as a bonus disc in the deluxe CD version of “Pyromania”, making this the first-ever vinyl offering of the complete show; this 2LP version comes with a new sleeve and inner bags.

“Rarities Volume 1” has been specially compiled by Joe Elliott, containing rare B-sides and recordings from Def Leppard’s early years, all in a newly commissioned sleeve.

The collection is rounded out with a 7-inch vinyl single and 3-inch CD of Def Leppard’s original, self-titled EP.

In addition to the extensive audio package, “Volume One” also contains a hardback book with rare photos by longstanding band confidant Ross Halfin and liner notes by Classic Rock’s Paul Elliott.

Def Leppard bandmembers Joe Elliott, bassist Rick Savage, drummer Rick Allen, and guitarist Phil Collen have all also contributed their personal introductions to the collection.

“The way we did our harmonies was based on the multitracking abilities of a band like Queen, but we took what they did to the next level,” explains Elliott. “Queen maybe tripled or quadrupled their backing vocals - but we did it like 20 times! We wanted it to sound like the quality of Queen but have the size of Slade.

"The way we did it gave us a unique sound. And that’s the whole point of an album, really - capturing a band’s unique dynamics.”

Def Leppard will team up with Journey for an extensive, co-headlining tour of North America this year; the 6-month, 58-city trek will begin in Hartford, CT on May 21 and wrap up in Los Angeles in early October.

Rush release A Farewell To Kings lyric video

Rush have released a lyric video for the title track to the expanded 40th anniversary reissue of their 1977 album, “A Farewell To Kings.”

The band’s fifth record delivered classic tracks like “Closer To The Heart”, “Cinderella Man” and “Xanadu” while peaking at No. 33 on the US Billboard 200.

Issued last December, the 40th Anniversary package is available in four configurations: the Super Deluxe Edition, three-CD Deluxe Edition, four-LP Deluxe Edition, and the Deluxe Digital Edition.

The 3CD/1Blu-ray Audio CD/4LP Super Deluxe Edition (full track listing below) presents the 2015 remastered edition of the album for the first time on CD, a complete Rush concert recorded at London’s Hammersmith Odeon in February 1978, four newly-recorded cover versions of songs from the original album by Dream Theater, Big Wreck, The Trews and Alain Johannes, and an instrumental studio outtake of the spacey sound effects the band has creatively titled “Cygnus X-2 Eh”.

The Super Deluxe Edition's audio content on its CDs is duplicated on its vinyl discs. Meanwhile, the Blu-ray Audio disc contains a brand new 5.1 surround mix of the album by four-time Grammy nominated surround sound producer Steven Wilson, along with three original 1977 promo videos from a newly found 2-inch quad video master significantly improving the video quality for “Closer To The Heart”. The package also includes a new 40th anniversary cover treatment by longtime Rush creative director Hugh Syme, and an extensive 12,000-word liner notes by Grammy-winning rock historian Rob Bowman.

The Super Deluxe set also adds some goodies for fans, including a unique King's Ring, with custom velvet pouch and neck chain; two lithographs with original artwork by Syme; a special 12-inch turntable mat featuring distinctive artwork by Syme; and a reproduction of Rush's original 1978 A Farewell To Kings tour program.

The 3CD Deluxe Edition mirrors the three discs from the Super Deluxe set – the remastered 2015 album plus the London concert and song extras.

The audiophile 180-gram 4LP Deluxe Edition delivers the same audio content as the 3-CD package alongside double-gatefold packaging, a 32-page vinyl-size booklet, the special 12-inch turntable mat, along with Syme's artwork and Bowman's liner notes.

The Deluxe Digital Edition presents the original album as disc 1, the complete Hammersmith concert unedited as disc 2, and the four covers songs plus the “Cygnus X-2 Eh” outtake as Disc 3.

Following a 2013 induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Rush performed the final show of their 40th anniversary R40 Live tour at The Forum in Los Angeles on August 1, 2015, marking the last concert appearance by the legendary Canadian rock trio.

VIDEO: Steve Miller Band previews 50th Anniversary US tour with Peter Frampton

The Steve Miller Band are streaming a live performance video of the Elmore James track, “Stranger Blues”, with Peter Frampton as a preview to the pair’s summer US tour.

The duo teamed up on the late bluesman’s 1962 single in Costa Mesa, CA on a joint trek last year that went so well that they decided to head out again in 2018.

"Music is ethereal – it moves back and forth between the past and the future," says Miller. "I'm very excited to announce that 2018 is our 50th anniversary of recording and touring together as the Steve Miller Band, and we plan to travel between the psychedelic sixties through the future with a vengeance!"

Frampton will again join Miller onstage for some mid-set jamming for the three-month summer 2018 tour, which will begin in Evansville, IN on June 12.

Ahead of the summer series, Miller and Frampton will perform a handful of shows in western Canada and the US that also includes Miller’s appearance on the final day of New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Sunday, May 6.

The albums have also been newly-remastered for HD digital audio (96kHz/24-bit and, since February 16, are being released weekly in chronological order ahead of the box set’s arrival.

The Cars stream Shake It Up demo

The Cars are streaming a previously-unheard demo of the title track to their 1981 album, “Shake It Up”, as a preview to the March 30 release of an expanded edition of the project.

The Boston outfit reportedly struggled with the tune for years before giving it one more look while working on their fourth album.

“It never sounded good,” noted drummer David Robinson in the group’s 1985 biography Frozen Fire. “We’d dumped it, and we were going to try it one more time, and I was fighting everybody. So we thought, let’s start it all over again, like we’d never even heard it.”

The lead single from “Shake It Up” earned the group their first US Top 10 hit when it reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 on its way to sales of more than 2 million copies in the country.

Available on CD, 2LP and digital formats, the latest addition to The Cars’ reissue series presents the original album alongside rare and unreleased songs, including demos, remixes and studio outtakes.

The project will arrive in sync with an expanded edition of 1984’s “Heartbeat City”, and just two weeks before The Cars will be inducted into the 2018 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Sammy Hagar inducted into San Francisco Bammies Walk Of Fame

Sammy Hagar was inducted into the Bammies Walk Of Fame in San Francisco, CA during a March 23 ceremony, and video from the event is streaming online.

Named after the former Bay Area Music Awards presented by BAM magazine, the honor of a plaque in front of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium recognizes the accomplishments of members of the local music community.

According to ABC7 News San Francisco, Hagar is the newest member of an esteemed group that includes Carlos Santana, Jerry Garcia, Journey, Jefferson Starship, John Lee Hooker and music promoter Bill Graham.

"Nothing is as gratifying as when your hometown, your home area, honors you,” says the Red Rocker. “It's where you want it the most. I mean, I will be down here looking at my plaque, believe me."

Alco recognized during the March 23 ceremony was radio DJ Steven Seaweed, who retired last year after 44 years on the air in the Bay Area.

Originally from the Monterey area, Hagar originally came to San Francisco during the Summer of Love in 1967; he fell in love with the Haight-Ashbury area and decided to move to the city.

In 1973, Hagar scored his first success when joined guitarist Ronnie Montrose as the singer in his new band, Montrose, appearing on the group’s self-titled debut and 1974’s “Paper Money” before leaving for a solo career in 1975.

Hagar will perform at the Bammies Reunion Concert at the city’s Regency Ballroom on March 24 as part of a lineup that includes Neal Schon of Journey, Eddie Money and Jefferson Starship’s Tribute To Paul Kantner, among others.

Season 3 of “Rock & Roll Road Trip with Sammy Hagar” will premiere on AXS TV on Sunday, April 8 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.

VIDEO: Pearl Jam joined by Red Hot Chili Peppers for Neil Young classic in Brazil

Pearl Jam were joined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer for the Neil Young classic, “Rockin' In The Free World", during the band’s March 21 show in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and video from the event is streaming online.

The tune marked the finale of the concert at Estádio do Maracanã, which also saw Klinghoffer in the lineup for the Seattle rockers’ 1991 track “Alive.”

The two acts have been crossing paths on the Lollapalooza circuit in South America this month, with appearances in Chile, Argentina and Brazil.

Ahead of the series, Pearl Jam issued a new single, “Can’t Deny Me”, to their Ten Club members a few days in advance of its official release earlier this month as a preview to their first new studio album in five years.

A series of European dates will kick off in June before the band begins a brief run of select US stadiums in August.

U2 premiere American Soul video

U2 are streaming a new video for “American Soul (New York)” featuring Kendrick Lamar, a track from their latest album “Songs Of Experience.”

Directed by the Broken Fingaz crew, the clip mixes animation with footage of the band’s pre-taped performance of the track on The Hudson River in New York City for the 60th annual Grammy Awards in January.

The companion to 2014’s “Songs Of Innocence” was completed last year with a series of producers – including Jacknife Lee and Ryan Tedder, Steve Lillywhite, Andy Barlow and Jolyon Thomas – following recording sessions in Dublin, New York and Los Angeles.

The two projects draw inspiration from a collection of poems, “Songs Of Innocence And Experience”, by the 18th century English mystic and poet William Blake.

“Songs Of Experience” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 to earn the group their eighth US chart-topper and first since 2009’s “No Line On The Horizon.”

U2 will begin a North American tour in support of the project in Tulsa, OK on May 2.
