Rolling Stones detail Voodoo Lounge Uncut live release

The Rolling Stones will release “Voodoo Lounge Uncut”, a live package from the band’s North American tour in support of their 1994 album, “Voodoo Lounge”, on November 16.

Filmed at Miami’s Joe Robbie Stadium on November 25, 1994 and broadcast as a pay-per-view event, the material was first issued as “Voodoo Lounge Live” on VHS video the following year before an edited version was delivered on DVD in 1998.

This restored, remixed and remastered film contains ten previously unreleased performances from the event (see song list below), which features guest appearances by Sheryl Crow ("Live With Me"), Robert Cray ("Stop Breaking Down Blues") and Bo Diddley ("Who Do You Love?"), as well as the first performance of "Sweet Virginia" since 1973.

The package adds five songs that were captured at Giants Stadium in New Jersey early in the trek that were a part of a VHS video called “Live Voodoo Lounge” that was offered for sale during the tour.

“Voodoo Lounge Uncut” will be available in multiple formats, including Blu-ray/2-CD, DVD/2-CD, limited-edition 3LP red vinyl and digital audio and video.

Ahead of the 1994 package, The Rolling Stones will release a 50th anniversary edition of their 1968 documentary, “Sympathy For The Devil”, on October 5.

Directed by Jean-Luc Godard, the film – originally titled “One Plus One” for the European market – captures the Stones working on and recording their iconic opening track from “Beggars Banquet” while presenting scenes on contemporary politics and social issues of the era.

Slash releases animated live action video for Driving Rain

Slash featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators have released a live action, animated video for “Driving Rain”, the lead single from their new album “Living The Dream.”

"The idea behind doing an animated video for ‘Driving Rain’ is mostly due to the dark subject matter of the song influencing directors to come up with very dramatic, dark and sullen regular live action treatments that weren’t any fun at all (no offense to those guys),” explains Slash. “So, I wanted to create something that could be tongue-in-cheek and yet still be dark with live-action animation. We're all big fans of Stoopid Buddy and they came up with a great concept and treatment. We love the video and it came out fn’ brilliant. Fyi, no puppets were harmed during the making of this video."

“Our whole team at Stoopid Buddy Stoodios was beyond excited to work with Slash, Myles, and those hard rocking Conspirators,” adds Creative Director and Co-Founder John Harvatine IV. “We had a blast creating a dramatic heart-pounding music video with rag-doll-like rod puppets and adrenaline-filled RC Jeeps. From this moment forward, ‘Driving Rain’ is now the Citizen Kane of music videos!”

The newly-released “Living The Dream” was produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Alter Bridge, Iggy Pop, Incubus), who previously teamed up with the Guns N' Roses rocker on 2014’s “World On Fire.”

Slash and the band are currently playing dates on a fall tour of North America that will be followed by a recently-announced early 2019 tour of the UK and Europe.

Tremonti announce fall tour of the UK and Europe

Alter Bridge-offshoot Tremonti have announced dates for a fall tour of the UK and Europe in support of their latest album, “A Dying Machine.”

The 6-week, 24-show run will open in Lisbon, Portigal on November 4 and include a 5-concert UK trek before it wraps up in Amsterdam on December 10; joining Tremonti for the fall series are The Raven Age and Disconnected.

Tickets and VIP packages are available now via marktremonti.com and the usual outlets.

Tremonti’s fourth studio record, “A Dying Machine” is their first concept album, with a story built around the co-existence of humans and fabricated beings at the turn of the next century.

Frontman and guitarist Mark Tremonti is turning the tale into a full-length work of fiction with the help of American author John Shirley.

“For years, I thought how great it would be to publish a book,” explains the guitarist, “and I get to kill two birds with one stone and do an album with a book. It just seemed like the perfect time. The stars aligned.”

Tremonti are currently playing dates on a month-long US tour.

The Beatles announce 50th anniversary editions of The White Album

The Beatles will release multiple expanded versions of their self-titled 1968 double album – commonly known as “The White Album” – on November 9.

All 50th anniversary reissues of the band’s legendary ninth album will present a 2018 stereo mix of the set by producer Giles Martin and mix engineer Sam Okell, marking the first time the project has been remixed and presented with additional demos and session recordings.

A 7-disc Super Deluxe box set (see track list below) adds the “Esher” demos and additional recording from the album’s sessions alongside a Blu-ray of mixes that includes a surround sound version; a 3CD Deluxe package includes the stereo mix and Esher demos; and, a 2LP vinyl edition delivers the new stereo mix.

“In remixing ‘The White Album,’ we’ve tried to bring you as close as possible to The Beatles in the studio,” explains Martin in his written introduction for the new edition. “We’ve peeled back the layers of the ‘Glass Onion’ with the hope of immersing old and new listeners into one of the most diverse and inspiring albums ever made.”

Much of the material for the record was written while The Beatles were on a retreat with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in India in early 1968.

“We had left Sgt. Pepper’s band to play in his sunny Elysian Fields and were now striding out in new directions without a map,” says Paul McCartney in his written introduction for the new releases.

“The White Album” debuted and/or reached the top of the charts in countries around the world upon its original release, while it went on to earn 19x Platinum status in the US for sales of 9.5 million copies.

This summer, The Beatles marked the 50th anniversary of the 1968 animated film, “Yellow Submarine”, with a return to cinemas across North America, the UK and Ireland.

Directed by George Dunning, the film is based upon the song of the same name from the band’s 1966 album, “Revolver.”

Metallica announce European tour

Metallica have expanded their WordWired tour in support of “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct” with a newly-announced series of shows in Europe next year.

“We promised we would be back . . . it’s the return of the European summer vacation!,” says Metallica. “Following the attendance breaking indoor arena run that ended in May of this year, we are psyched to announce that we will be returning to Europe in May of next year to do an outdoor run of our own shows, primarily in stadiums, but also the occasional park and even a castle thrown in for good measure!

“Kicking off May 1, 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal, the tour will visit 25 cities across 20 countries including many cities we did not stop in on the most recent excursion: Milan, Zürich, Dublin, Berlin, Moscow, Warsaw, Bucharest, Göteborg and Brussels (first time since 1988!) are all on the itinerary this summer. We also have three firsts (go figure!) with shows in Trondheim Norway, Hämeenlinna Finland, and Tartu, Estonia.

“Joining us for the festivities will be Ghost and Bokassa.”

“This tour also marks the appearance of another first in Europe with the Wherever I May Roam Black Ticket, a wildly popular addition to our menu of options for the current North American tour,” adds the band. “The Black Ticket is your one-stop shop; a single ticket that allows you Golden Circle access to any Metallica show on the 2019 European tour. Pick your city from A(msterdam) to Z(ürich), make a reservation online no less than 48 hours before the gig and you're in!

“A limited number of 750 of these Black Tickets will be available for 598 Euro and you can get yours by visiting CIDEntertainment.com or by clicking any of the European “Enhanced Experiences” links in the Tour Section of Metallica.com.”

Fan Club presales begin Tuesday, September 25 at 10 a.m. CEST for Legacy Members and 11 a.m. CEST for Fifth Members, with general public tickets on sale Friday, September 28 at 10 AM local time via the usual outlets.

During their current fall tour of North America, Metallica will release multiple 30th anniversary editions of their 1988 album, “…And Justice For All”, on November 2.

The remastered reissue will be available in multiple configurations, including a Standard Double 180 gram LP, Standard CD, 3 CD Expanded Edition, cassette, Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set and digitally as a Standard album (available to stream and download), an Expanded Edition (available for download only), and a Digital Deluxe Box Set (available for streaming and download).

Led Zeppelin: Song Remains The Same soundtrack returns to US charts

Led Zeppelin’s soundtrack to the concert film, “The Song Remains The Same”, has returned to the US charts.

According to Billboard, the package re-enters the Billboard 200 at No. 127; available in multiple editions, all versions of the album – original and reissues – are blended together for charting purposes.

Featuring material recorded during the group’s 1973 performances at New York's Madison Square Garden and first released in 1976, the reissue presents newly-remastered audio supervised by Jimmy Page.

Upon its original release, the soundtrack was a No. 1 album in the band’s native UK, a No. 2 effort on the US Billboard 200, and Top 10 in several countries.

“The Song Remains The Same” reissue officially launched Led Zeppelin’s 50th anniversary celebrations as it arrived 50 years to the date of the band’s first live show – as The New Yardbirds – in Gladsaxe, Denmark in 1968.

On October 9, the iconic hard rock group will publish “Led Zeppelin By Led Zeppelin”, the first and only official illustrated book to be produced in collaboration with the members of the band.

Lenny Kravitz debuts Raise Vibration on US charts

Lenny Kravitz has debuted his latest album, “Raise Vibration”, on the US charts.

Billboard reports the rocker’s eleventh studio record has entered the Billboard 200 at No. 43 with opening week sales of 13,000 units, with 12,000 in traditional album sales.

Produced and recorded by Kravitz at his Bahamas studio, “Raise Vibration” also debuted at No. 5 on the Top Rock Albums chart; the set’s current single, “Low”which he recently performed on The Tonight Show – has risen from No. 37-25 on the Dance Club Songs chart.

“Low” features an appearance by Michael Jackson that was recorded during sessions for the late pop icon’s 2001 album, “Invincible.”

The pair had worked together on the tune, “(I Can’t Make It) Another Day” – which was released after Jackson’s death in 2009; Kravitz used some ad-libs from their studio time together and incorporated them into “Low.”

“A lot of people say: ‘Oh, you’re doing that Michael Jackson impersonation,’” admits Kravitz. “No, that’s him.”

It’s a full-circle moment for the soulful rocker, whose first-ever concert was the Jackson 5 at Madison Square Garden.

“He’s the person who made it happen for me,” recalls Kravitz. “He loved [us] working together. He asked me to push him. I did.”

Kravitz is currently performing on a brief US tour that kicked off in Atlanta, GA on September 21.

Metallica: Black album makes US chart history

Metallica’s self-titled 1991 record has made US chart history by becoming one of only four albums to spend more than 500 weeks on the Billboard 200.

According to Billboard, the “Black” album – which currently sits at No. 147 on the chart – scored its 500th non-consecutive week to achieve the rare feat alongside Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side Of The Moon” (937 weeks), Bob Marley and The Wailers’ 1984 collection “Legend: The Best Of Bob Marley And The Wailers” (539 weeks) and Journey’s 1998 “Greatest Hits” package (539 weeks).

Led by the classic hit, “Enter Sandman”, Metallica’s self-titled album was the band’s first to top the US charts on its way to sales of 16 million in the States and more than 30 million worldwide.

“Metallica” continues to hold the record as the biggest-selling album in Nielsen Music history, since the company began tracking sales data in 1991.

Metallica are currently playing dates on a fall tour of North America in support of their tenth record, “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.”

Chris Cornell collection previewed with unreleased track When Bad Does Good

A newly-announced self-titled collection of Chris Cornell’s work is being previewed with a lyric video for the previously-unreleased track, “When Bad Does Good.”

The tune was produced, recorded, and mixed by Cornell and was found in his personal recordings archive; a favorite of the late Soundgarden rocker, it wasn't until friend Josh Brolin reminded the singer’s wife, Vicky, of the unreleased song that she decided to share it with his fans.

“When Bad Does Good” is featured on the new collection, “Chris Cornell”; due November 16, the package is offered in multiple formats, including a single 17-track release and a 64-track limited-edition deluxe box set (see track lists below).

Both versions present material from Cornell’s extensive career as a solo artist and work with Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog and Audioslave.

In addition to the CD releases, the collection will be available as a double-LP, pressed on 180-gram vinyl. There will also be a limited edition, Super Deluxe set, which includes the deluxe edition, which contains the four discs from the deluxe edition, seven LPs and a DVD, which adds two previously unreleased videos.

The project marks the first release of Cornell’s music since his 2017 death while on the road with Soundgarden.

"Since Chris's sudden passing, I have put all my efforts and energy into sharing his music and legacy with his fans from all over the world," says Vicky Cornell. "I felt we needed to create a special collection to represent all of him — the friend, husband and father, the risk taker and innovator, the poet and artist. His soaring vocals found their way into the hearts and souls of so many. His voice was his vision and his words were his peace. This album is for his fans."

Cornell will be honored with an unveiling ceremony of a life-size bronze statue in his Seattle hometown on Sunday, October 7.

Cornell’s widow, Vicky, will be on hand at the city’s Museum Of Pop Culture for the tribute to the singer that features a tribute by sculptor Nick Marras that depicts the rocker “in one of his iconic poses with his signature boots, dog tag, layers and long locks.”

The statue will stand outside of MoPOP’s gold south entrance facing Fifth Avenue.

Steve Perry previews solo return with We’re Still Here video

Steve Perry is streaming a performance video of the track “We’re Still Here”, as the latest preview to his solo return with the forthcoming album, “Traces.”

“This is one of my most favorite songs on Traces,” explains Perry, “because it speaks of the inclusiveness of us being together in the same place at the same time, and to not take lightly the fact that ‘we’re still here.'”

It’s the third tune issued in advance of the record’s October 5 arrival, following the lead single “No Erasin’” and the follow-up “No More Cryin’.”

Perry recorded “Traces” at his home studio – with only strings done at Capitol Records – alongside co-producer Thom Flowers.

The set mark the legendary Journey singer’s first solo project since 1994's “For The Love Of Strange Medicine”, which reached No. 15 on the US Billboard 200.

“Putting 30 years into 10 songs has certainly been an emotional experience for me,” says Perry. “I started writing and recording these songs with the creative freedom that I was the only one who would ever hear them. Along the way, I rediscovered my love for music. Each track represents traces of my past, but is also a hopeful look into the future. I invite you to listen with an open heart.”

“Traces” will be issued via CD, digital download and 180-gram vinyl.

Rolling Stones classic returns to US charts

A Rolling Stones classic has returned to the US charts in sync with its inclusion in ad campaign for carmaker Acura.

Billboard reports the group’s 1967 single, “She’s A Rainbow”, enters the Hot Rock Songs chart at No. 24 with sales and streaming gains sparked by the song’s appearance in a commercial for the all-new Acura RDX.

The music industry magazine credits the ad in which the tune is featured as a contributing factor for a boost of 274 percent in sales (to 6,000) and 138 percent in streams (to 366,000) in the week ending September 13, according to Nielsen Music.

"She’s A Rainbow" also begins at No. 7 on Rock Digital Song Sales, becoming the legendary band’s first top 10 on the chart, which began in 2010; on the all-format Digital Song Sales chart (which dates to 2004), it's the band's first entry with a debut at No. 48.

The second single from the Stones' 1967 album, “Their Satanic Majesties Request”, "She’s A Rainbow" originally reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1968 while the record hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

On October 5, The Rolling Stones will release a 50th anniversary edition of their 1968 documentary, “Sympathy For The Devil.”

Directed by Jean-Luc Godard, the film – originally titled “One Plus One” for the European market – captures the Stones working on and recording their iconic opening track from “Beggars Banquet” while presenting scenes on contemporary politics and social issues of the era.
