Santana covers album update

More info is coming out about the Santana classic rock covers album I told you about a few months ago…

Word is the still-untitled record will be out in September.

Sony executive Clive Davis, who worked with Santana on 1999’s “Supernatural,” chased Carlos for a year with the idea for the album; he chose half the tracks while Carlos selected the other half.

So far, here’s how the album is shaping up:

Rob Thomas - “Sunshine Of Your Love” (Cream)
Pat Monahan (Train) - “Dance The Night Away” (Van Halen)
Scott Weiland - “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” (The Rolling Stones)
Joe Cocker - “Little Wing” (Jimi Hendrix)
Chris Cornell - “Whole Lotta Love” (Led Zeppelin)
Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach) - “Smoke On The Water” (Deep Purple)Nas - “Back In Black” (AC/DC)
Chris Daughtry - “Photograph” (Def Leppard)
TBA - “Fortunate Son” (CCR)
India.Arie & Yo-Yo Ma - “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” (The Beatles)

Santana will preview some of the new covers while on the road this summer with Steve Winwood; the tour kicks off June 30 in St. Paul, Minnesota.
