New Van Halen in 2011

News from Warner/Chappell Music yesterday that the publishing company has extended its agreement with the Van Halen brothers.

So, what does that mean?

Well, the final line in the press release says, “The group is currently in the studio recording an album with Roth that is due for release in 2011.”

No big shock, really, as it’s just another confirmation that the band is actively working on new music and a new record – the first full album with David Lee Roth since 1984 (the year and the album).

See other news items here, here and here for more details.

Roth returned to the VH lineup for a partial reunion/tour in 2007 – partial, since Wolfgang Van Halen replaced Michael Anthony on bass, pretty much killing any chance of an original, classic Van Halen reunion.

Blood is thicker than money.

Despite information leaks earlier this spring that the band was working on new music, the Van Halen camp issued a blanket “no update to report” last month following a Melodicrock news story that confirmed the earlier leaks.

“Hey, I heard you missed us…we’re baaaack!”
