Kiss’ Paul Stanley at the 2010 Freedom Awards

Paul Stanley of Kiss and his wife, Eric Sutton, attended the 2010 Freedom Awards in L.A. on Sunday.

The Awards celebrate heroes of the anti-slavery movement, recognizing organizations and individuals working to eradicate human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Nominations come from the U.S. and around the world, and winners are selected by independent international committees.

Through Free the Slaves’ research, first published in Kevin Bales’ "Disposable People," the conservative estimate is that there are 27 million people in slavery today. This means that there are more people in slavery today than at any other time in human history. Slavery has existed for thousands of years, but changes in the world’s economy and societies over the past 50 years have enabled a resurgence of slavery.

Stanley was interviewed by RealTV Films, and asked about his definition of freedom.
