Gary Moore funeral set for this weekend

The body of former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore was flown from Spain to Britain on Friday, as his family prepares for his funeral this weekend.

Inside Ireland reports the guitarist’s funeral is expected to take place in Brighton, where Moore had been living for a number of years.

Moore died last Sunday of a suspected heart attack, at the start of a 6-day vacation in Spain; further tests are expected to determine the cause of death.

He is survived by four children; daughters Saoirse and Lily and sons Jack and Gus.

Gary Moore’s family issued a statement on Wednesday saying they took great comfort in the fact he died of natural causes, and was looking forward to his holiday prior to recording a new album.

“His family has requested that their privacy is respected during this sad time and no further comment will be made. They would very much like to express their heartfelt thanks for the show of support and all the kind messages from friends and fans alike, the world over.”
