Megadeth: pray for more Big 4 US shows

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine is hoping history repeats itself, and he’s asking for your help to make it happen.

If you’re a fan of The Big 4Metallica/Megadeth/Slayer/Athrax – Mustaine wants you to pray.

Pray for more US shows.

See, the original Big 4 grouping that took place on the Sonisphere Festival last summer began with the idea for one show – which ultimately turned into seven concerts across Europe.

The Big 4’s recent announcement of a single US show – April 23 in Indio, California – was a win/lose proposition for fans. People who wanted a show in North America are getting one; those who wanted a series of dates - even a full US tour – are left wanting more.

Noisecreep’s Jon Weiderhorn caught up with Mustaine to check in on the Big 4’s plans.

Noisecreep: The Sonisphere shows in Europe last year were so successful, you must have been thrilled when Metallica's camp announced that there would be a Big Four show in Indio, Calif.

Mustaine:
I was really excited. Knowing this information and having to sit on it, I thought I was going to explode. People kept asking me if it was gonna happen, and I knew it was, but I couldn't tell anyone. We didn't know that soon in advance, but we did know. So when people asked, I had to go into my trial lawyer double speak and say, "I don't know." And that was true.

I mean, I still don't know, technically. A meteor might hit the planet tomorrow and then the show won't take place. But we've got so many great opportunities right now with the Big Four dates, the Mayhem tour, the paperback of [my book] 'Mustaine' coming out [with] additional stories in it. There are tons of great things happening.

Noisecreep: Why is there only one Big Four US show confirmed?

Mustaine:
That, I don't know. But I do know this -- and it's not me speaking on behalf of any of the Big Four collectively or individually -- it started off as one date before, and then it ended up being several. So I would say for people that pray, do so. For people that don't, start.

Speaking of praying…you’ll want to read Mustaine’s tales of black magic and witchcraft, so check out the full Noisecreep interview here.
