Heavy Metal festivals confirmed for Toronto and Montreal this summer

Canada gets hot and heavy this summer as two simultaneous metal festivals have been confirmed for July.

The annual Heavy MTL festival in Montreal has expanded into Toronto (as Heavy TO), and organizers have announced the lineup, for both sites, for the July 23 and 24 weekend events.

Montreal’s show at Parc Jean-Drapeau will be headlined by Disturbed (Sat) and KISS (Sun), while Toronto’s Downsview Park will see Megadeth (Sat) and Rob Zombie (Sun) at center stage.

Some acts will actually be playing both shows, as Toronto’s Saturday lineup of Anthrax, Opeth, Motorhead, Children Of Bodom, As I Lay Dying, The Sword, Times Of Grace and DevilDriver is the same as Montreal’s Sunday lineup – with a different headliner in each city.

More acts will be announced shortly.

Tickets to Heavy TO go on sale Friday, March 25 at 11 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster and Toronto record stores Rotate This and Soundscapes.

Tickets to Heavy MTL go on sale on Saturday, March 26 at noon ET through evenko.ca.
