Rolling Stones: Ronnie Wood wins U.K. radio award

Ronnie Wood has been named Music Radio Personality of the Year at the Sony Radio Academy Awards in London.

Hosted by Chris Evans, Monday night’s event at London Grosvenor House Hotel was the 30th annual ceremony, regarded as the UK’s most prestigious radio honors.

Airing on Absolute Radio, “The Ronnie Wood Show” is a weekly 1-hour program where the Rolling Stones guitarist digs through the archives to play some of the music he loves and the stuff that’s influenced him over the years.

“An amazing character and a really innovative programme,” said the Sony Radio Academy judges. “Ronnie has lived the life of a thousand men, and you feel like a child sitting at his feet as he unfolds his rarefied story book and recounts his great adventures. His use of his guitar and harmonica to introduce the varied music and stories make this a unique and award-winning show.”
