VIDEO: Randy Rhoads rocks with Ozzy Osbourne

The footage has been floating around online and among collectors for years, and we’ll soon be getting our hands on an officially-released version later this month.

I’m talking rare, live footage of Ozzy Osbourne, circa 1981, featuring legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads.

It’s part of the new set of reissues of Ozzy’s first two solo albums, “Blizzard Of Oz” (1980) and “Diary Of A Madman” (1981), which are being rereleased on May 31, 9 years after they were altered by Sharon Osbourne. For more details on the history of the project, check the “See Also” section below for some key links.

The package includes the new “Thirty Years After The Blizzard” DVD, which chronicles Ozzy's years with Randy, including previously unseen footage filmed in 1981 and 1982.

The DVD also contains over 70 minutes of additional rare live performances and interviews; included is the premiere of more than 30 minutes of newly-discovered never-bootlegged footage of the Blizzard of Ozz tour shot from the front of the stage at New York's fabled Palladium on May 2, 1981.

Also included is a set of live performances for a Rochester, New York TV program called “After Hours.” Ozzy and company ripped through a 4-song set, representing some of the highest quality footage of the Rhoads-era.

Ozzy has just released the video of “Crazy Train” from the show, so we’ll pass that along here, as well as some of the other (fan-captured) highlights from the taping.
