VIDEO: Corey Taylor goes acoustic at ZZ Top fest

Last weekend, ZZ Top staged their first annual La Grange Fest in Austin, Texas.

Tagging along with the bearded ones were Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jamey Johnson and Corey Taylor, as the lineup played The Backyard, in a city famous for its music.

The Skynyrd connection with ZZ is fairly obvious, given the band’s shared histories; Jamey Johnson is one of the contributors to the just-released “A Tribute From Friends,” the album of ZZ Top cover songs by a slew of the band's admirers – Johnson covers “La Grange,” with a guest appearance by ZZ’s Billy Gibbons on the track.

As singer for both Stone Sour and Slipknot, Corey Taylor seemed like the odd man out on the bill, but fan reports suggest he did a stand up job. Taylor has been out performing solo acoustic shows in support of his recent book, “Seven Deadly Sins,” and will be doing a full North American solo tour this fall, starting November 14 in Anaheim, CA.

"I really can't say how excited I am to be sharing the stage with Skynyrd and ZZ Top!" said Taylor before the show. "Just from a fan's point of view, I can't wait to see these bands. I'm trying to figure out what I can bring to the table, but I'll do my very best. And of course, it's always good to be back in Texas!!"

A few fan-shot videos from Austin have surfaced…both are Stone Sour tracks with Taylor sounding in fine voice.
