Van Halen release their new album, “A Different Kind Of Truth,” in North America on Tuesday.
To help launch the album, the band has performed two rare, intimate club shows to music and media types in the past month as they work to build some good vibes and momentum for the new project. An early January show at the Café Wha? in New York City got things off the ground, and a show in Los Angeles last week was presented for west coast-based media.
The Van Halen News Desk reports Howard Stern will be presenting an extended radio special about the band on the day of the record’s release.
On Tuesday, Stern will run a special called “THE WHOLE TRUTH: THE HOWARD STERN/VAN HALEN SPECIAL” - which is essentially a 5-hour uncensored history of Van Halen on The Howard Stern Show…the good, the bad and the ugly.
Stern’s team pulled a variety of appearances from the different band members over the years to really get a sense of the up & down history of the group and the back & forth bickering…resulting in an oral history as told through the band members themselves.
All members of the VH family tree are included in the show, with the exception of bassist Wolfgang Van Halen.
The VHND advises that the band’s new music is NOT included in the program; the show has been created for longtime Van Halen fans who like Stern and want to relive the band’s past dramas.
“THE WHOLE TRUTH: THE HOWARD STERN/VAN HALEN SPECIAL” airs Tuesday February 7 from 2-7pm Eastern (11am – 4pm Pacific) on Sirius XM/Howard 101.
