VIDEO: Metallica drummer announces film tent for Orion Music + More


Metallica are gearing up for the launch of their own festival, Orion Music + More.

The band’s inaugural event happens June 23-24 at Bader Field in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

In addition to selecting more than 30 artist on the two-day bill, the members of Metallica have taken ownership of Orion on-site activities.

Frontman James Hetfield is curating the Orion Custom Car + Motorcycle Show, which is set to feature over 300 of the best Customs, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars and Custom Motorcycles on display inside the festival grounds throughout the weekend.

Guitarist Kirk Hammett will present Kirk’s Crypt, a showcase of his passion for all things horror - vintage film posters, movie props, collectables and more.

Drummer Lars Ulrich is now revealing his plans for Orion, which include the Hit The Lights Films Tent.

Lars will share his passion for all things film at the Hit The Lights Films tent with movies all hand-picked by the drummer, each with a special connection to him and/or Metallica.

Ulrich himself will be on hand personally introducing every movie playing over the festival weekend and sharing stories about his bond to each.

Included in the lineup is the North American premiere of Mission to Lars, the touching story of one family's journey that leads to Lars and Metallica. Co-directors William Spicer and Robert Moore will be on hand to introduce the film and take questions following the screening.

Meet Metallica fan and filmmaker Derek Cianfrance before the screening of his film Blue Valentine, Lars' favorite movie of 2010. Lars' father Torben Ulrich will be on hand to talk about his film Before The Wall: Body & Being, featuring a soundtrack of unusual sounds all assembled by Lars.
