The Deep Purple tribute album, "Re-Machined: A Tribute To Machine Head" will be released September 25.
The compilation CD featuring re-interpretations of Deep Purple’s landmark 1972 album with songs recorded by Metallica, Iron Maiden, Chickenfoot, Black Label Society and more.
Iron Maiden’s version of "Space Truckin'" was actually recorded back in 2006.
"Initially we didn't think we'd be able to contribute anything due to our touring commitments,” says Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson. “Then we remembered 'Space Truckin'' which we'd recorded as a single B-side during our 'A Matter Of Life And Death' album session, but never used. However now, thanks to Kevin Shirley's remixing skills, we're able to include it on 'Re-Machined'."
Deep Purple’s most successful record, “Machine Head” reached number 1 in the UK and stayed in the top 40 for 20 weeks; it reached number 7 in the United States, remaining on the Billboard 200 for 118 weeks.
