KISS & Motley Crue donate 100K to Colorado shooting victims

KISS and Motley Crue are donating money to support those affected by the Colorado movie theater shootings.

The bands told the crowd at their concert in suburban Denver on Wednesday night that they would donate $100,000 to the Aurora Victim Relief Fund.

The fund was set up to help victims and families who were hurt when a man opened fire July 20 at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie in Aurora. Twelve people were killed, and 58 were injured.

“Following the heartbreaking news of the senseless shootings in Colorado, we wanted to do something to help the families and victims,” said Crue bassist Nikki Sixx. “We bonded together with our tour partners and friends Kiss to donate money, but we also hope it inspires others to do the same, no matter how big or small.”

“The terror these innocent victims of the Aurora massacre must have experienced and the profound loss their families now face is unimaginable,” added KISS frontman Paul Stanley. “We hope that our small gesture helps inspire others to band together in compassion and financial support for all involved in this unspeakable tragedy.”

The Aurora Victim Relief Fund, which was established in partnership with Governor Hickenlooper through Community First Foundation, will be used to meet the immediate and long-term needs of victims and their families and, as funds are available, to the broad needs of those affected in the community.
