Dave Grohl's new supergroup – the Sound City Players – will make their live debut this week during the Sundance Film Festival.
The impressive collection of players for the January 18 show at Park City Live in Park City, UT includes John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks, Nirvana bandmates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear (also a Foo), the full Foo Fighters crew, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, and many others.
All of the musicians are featured on the soundtrack for “Sound City,” the new film directed by Grohl, which will premiere at the Sundance Festival prior to the live concert event.
Now, the collective has added a Los Angeles show at the Hollywood Palladium on January 31st, the same night Grohl's documentary makes its theatrical debut at the Cinerama Dome.
Rolling Stone reports a slightly different lineup will join Grohlin Los Angeles: along with Nicks and Fogerty, the band will include Rick Springfield; Novoselic; Nielsen; the Foo Fighters; Rage Against the Machine's Brad Wilk; Fear's Lee Ving; Robert Levon Been and Peter Hayes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club; Alain Johannes; and Chris Goss.
Tickets for the Los Angeles gig go on sale January 16th at noon.
