Metallica have been headlining Australia’s Soundwave festival over the past couple of weekends.
The traveling event opened February 23 in Brisbane, before hitting Sydney on the 24th, where Channel V caught up with James Hetfield for an interview.
Asked if there were any shows that he appreciated more than others, Hetfield replied, “It’s an easy answer: the 30 year anniversary shows we did at The Fillmore in San Francisco. Hometown gigs, celebrating 30 years of being together with fans from every corner of the world travelled in for those shows. We did four shows; we had guests coming up from Ozzy to [Judas Priest’s Rob] Halford to Biff [Byford] from Saxon, and we had bands that we appreciate open for us, or have opened for us before.”
This past weekend, Soundwave rolled into Melbourne (Fri), Adelaide (Sat) and Perth (Mon).
