VIDEO: Metallica play secret show following Comic-Con appearance

Metallica played a secret show in San Diego Friday night following their appearance at Comic-Con, and video from the event has surfaced.

The band’s show at the Spreckels Theatre kicked off with the classic, “Creeping Death,” and ran through a dozen songs from their extensive catalogue.

Earlier in the evening, the members of Metallica were at Comic-Con to preview and discuss their forthcoming 3D film, “Through The Never.”

The movie tells the story of a band crew member (played by Dane DeHaan) who is sent out on a mission during Metallica's live set in front of a sold-out arena; while on this mission, he unexpectedly has his life turned completely upside down.

“Through the Never” will debut in IMAX theatres across North America for a one-week engagement starting Friday, September 27; the film will then expand into additional theatres on October 4.

Up next, Metallica kick off an 8-date Asian tour on August 10 in Tokyo, a trip that will see the group’s first shows in China.
