VIDEO: Megadeth performs acoustic set in New York City

Megadeth performed a three-song acoustic set at the VEVO studios in New York City on August 7, and video of the session has surfaced.

The band played their classic “Symphony Of Destruction”, "Kingmaker" from its latest album, "Super Collider", plus "She-Wolf" from 1997's "Cryptic Writings", before a group of invited fans and contest winners.

The VEVO mini-set took place hours before Megadeth headlined the second of two back-to-back nights of their Gigantour festival at the city’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

Megadeth have been on the road in support of “Super Collider”, which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 album chart in June with opening week sales of 29,000 copies.

The band recently wrapped up a month on the road headlining their own Gigantour festival; in September, they’ll play a series of US dates with Iron Maiden before teaming up with Black Sabbath for a tour of Latin America in October.

On September 24, Megadeth will release “Countdown To Extinction: Live”, a new set that captures the band in concert on the 20th anniversary tour of the double-platinum 1992 album.

Recorded and filmed at Los Angeles' Fox Theatre last December, the 2012 show sees Megadeth performing the entire “Countdown To Extinction” album, as well as playing other classics from their recorded catalog, like "Holy Wars" and "Hangar 18" from 1990's "Rust In Peace", "Peace Sells" from the 1986 platinum album "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?", and "Trust" from 1997's "Cryptic Writings".

"Countdown To Extinction: Live" will be released on CD, DVD and Blu-ray.
