Metallica to perform on The Colbert Report

Metallica will make a rare TV appearance on Tuesday, September 24 when they stop by to chat and perform on Comedy Central's The Colbert Report.

The band will join host Stephen Colbert as they make the rounds to promote their new 3D film, “Through The Never”, which will debut in IMAX theatres across North America for a one-week engagement starting Friday, September 27 before expanding into additional theatres on October 4.

“Through The Never” tells the story of a band crew member named Trip (played by Dane DeHaan) who is sent out on a mission during Metallica's live set in front of a sold-out arena: to meet a disabled truck and retrieve a particular item. However, the routine task turns into a surreal odyssey when Trip's van is hit by another vehicle, and he subsequently finds himself up against a death-dealing horseman. As Trip flees through desolate streets, he has only his wits to help him avoid the deadly horseman and deliver Metallica's cargo.

The same day as The Colbert Report appearance, Metallica will release the 2-CD soundtrack, "Metallica Through The Never (Music From The Motion Picture)." The project will highlight performances from last year's shows at Rexall Place in Edmonton and Rogers Arena in Vancouver, where the band filmed all performance footage featured in the film.
