Slash Burger launched to raise funds for charity

California-based Umami Burger has just launched the Slash Burger, named after the iconic rock guitarist, with a portion of sales benefitting the Los Angeles Youth Network.

Tattooed with a big "U" on the bun, the Slash Burger contains shiitake mushrooms, caramelized onions, American cheese, avocado spread, and wasabi aioli, served with a Parmesan cheese crisp.

The Slash Burger costs $15, with one dollar going to Los Angeles Youth Network (LAYN). It is available at all Umami locations now until November 27.

LAYN’s mission is to empower abused, neglected and homeless adolescents to become self-sufficient. The organization does this by providing street outreach, food, emergency shelter, transitional living apartments, and educational enrichment programs in a nurturing and safe environment.

Slash, meanwhile, will appear as a guest on the Thursday, September 26 episode of Conan O'Brien's nighttime talk show on TBS, "Conan".

The guitarist is making the rounds to promote "Nothing Left To Fear", the first film from his production company Slasher Films. The film was written by Jonathon W.C. Mills and directed by Anthony Leonardi III.

Slash produced and scored this horror movie set in the small town of Stull, Kansas, where a young pastor and his devout family come face-to-face with the ultimate evil. Pastor Dan (James Tupper) and his wife Wendy (Anne Heche) thought Stull was the perfect place to raise their teenage daughter (Rebekah Brandes) and her younger sister (Jennifer Stone). Shortly after arriving in town, however, the hopeful parents realize Stull sits atop one of the Seven Gates of Hell, and that the townspeople are determined to herald in a new age of darkness.

Slash will release the soundtrack album for "Nothing Left To Fear" on October 4, the same day the film opens in select theaters.
