Soundgarden have announced the premiere of their new video for “Halfway There”, the latest single from “King Animal”, will happen on Wednesday, September 4.
The debut lands the same day Soundgarden launch their European tour in Helsinki, Finland; the two-week trek wraps up September 19 in London.
Guitarist Kim Thayil recently revealed that the band will be taking an extended break from the road to work on a variety of projects.
“I think [after the European tour] that will be it for awhile,” Thayil told Seattle’s KIRO Radio. “I know that [drummer] Matt [Cameron]’s going to be some touring with Pearl Jam and I think [singer] Chris [Cornell] is going to be working on a solo acoustic record and he might be playing some shows during that. And I will be working on compiling the Soundgarden B-sides box, which we have a lot of songs that were released on European and Australian releases, movie soundtracks, various things like that that have yet to be compiled and put into album form.”
Following the European dates, Cornell will play a fall North American tour comprised of intimate, acoustic shows that will kick off October 15 in San Diego, California.
Cameron joins Pearl Jam for their fall tour in support of a new album, “Lighting Bolt”, due October 15; shows begin October 11 in Pittsburgh – full details are available here.
Bassist Ben Shepherd has just released his debut solo album, “In Deep Owl.”
