Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has posted best wishes to drummer Bill Ward following his recent surgery for a perforated diverticulitis.
"Sorry to hear you've been unwell, hope you make a speedy recovery," wrote Iommi, currently on tour in South America.
Ward’s surgery in California was successful, and he is expected to make a full recovery over the next several weeks.
The drummer was forced to postpone his “Absence Of Corners” reception at the Annapolis Collection Gallery in Maryland on October 26.
"I am truly sorry that I have to postpone the Absence of Corners gallery reception," said Ward. "The feedback I have received from everyone about this project has been astounding, and I was so looking forward to this event. I want to thank the Annapolis Collection Gallery for everything they are doing. I am honored that they are exhibiting my art, and I hope to get there to celebrate this collection with you all very soon."
The gallery and Ward have agreed to find another date in the future which will allow him time for a complete recovery.
The event was to be held at the first U.S. gallery to showcase Ward’s groundbreaking collection of fine art created from rhythm.

Ward declined to participate in the Black Sabbath reunion tour and album, “13”, over a contractual dispute. The group recorded with Brad Wilk of Rage Against The Machine, while Ozzy Osbourne’s solo drummer, Tommy Clufetos, has been handling live dates.
