KISS: Ace Frehley’s New York home damaged in fire

A New York home owned by original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley was damaged in a fire on Saturday.

The Journal News reports Yorktown fire officials received a call about the blaze at about 11 a.m. and firefighters were still on the scene at 3:30 p.m.

Flames burned through the roof of the stone house, which was reportedly occupied by a caretaker; no one was in the house when the fire broke out.

Yorktown is located in Northern Westchester County, New York, 35 miles from New York City.

Yorktown Heights Fire Chief Chet Swirski said the fire was ruled accidental.

The building once served as a recording studio and later was converted into a residence. It has few windows, making it difficult for firefighters to battle the blaze, which primarily was found on the second floor, Swirski said.

Earlier this year, Frehley - who now lives in California - went to court to fight a foreclosure action on the Yorktown property.

In February, U.S. Bank National Association claimed in a foreclosure filing that the rock star, whose real name is Paul Frehley, stopped paying his $735,000 mortgage on March 1, 2011.

In a recent radio interview, Frehley commented on the foreclosure reports, saying "I left the house over two and a half years ago. My attorney is taking care of it. It's not in foreclosure. Things got blown out of proportion. Somebody didn't take care of what they were supposed to do. And my attorney is taking care of it. But, basically, I'm out in California now, and I have people living on that property, taking care of it, and they've been showing it to people who are interested in possibly purchasing it. And the whole thing was kind of a misunderstanding."

Frehley recently signed a new two-album deal with eOne Music.

The guitarist is also working on a companion to 2011’s "No Regrets: A Rock 'N' Roll Memoir", which debuted at #10 on the New York Times "Hardcover Nonfiction" best sellers list upon its release in 2011.
