VIDEO: Carlos Santana - 2013 Kennedy Center Honors tribute

Carlos Santana was among the recipients of the 2013 Kennedy Center Honors earlier this month in Washington, and video of the tribute to the guitarist is available.

Actor Harry Belafonte opened the Santana portion of the evening with a speech saluting the impact and legacy of the guitar legend.

The musical tribute started off with “Black Magic Woman” featuring Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello on guitar, followed by “Oye Como Va.”

Blues icon and 2012 Kennedy Center honoree Buddy Guy stepped up to deliver a performance of “Hoochie Coochie Man”, before Steve Winwood and Sheila E. played “Everybody’s Everything.”

Santana was honored alongside fellow 2013 recipients Billy Joel, Shirley MacLaine, Herbie Hancock and opera singer Martina Arroyo.

The annual honor is given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture.

Santana resumes his Las Vegas residency next month at The House Of Blues.
