Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett is updating fans on plans for his upcoming horror convention, Fear FestEvil, set for next month in San Francisco.
The three-day event (February 6-8) at the Regency Ballroom will feature vending, some live music, “Kirk's Crypt" private tours, panels, signings, special guest appearances and more.
Musical performances will include Exodus, Carcass, Death Angel and Orchid.
Kirk says he will join both Exodus and Death Angel for their encores at the convention.
Hammett was a member of Exodus before joining Metallica in 1983.
“Exodus is stoked to announce that none other than Kirk Von Hammett himself will be jamming with us during our encore at Fear FestEviL!,” says guitarist Gary Holt. “What song? Hmm, that remains to be seen! I guess you will have to be there to find out!”
As for Hammett’s ties to Death Angel, he produced the band’s 1986 demo, "Kill As One."
In 2012, Hammett released his first book, “Too Much Horror Business”, a collection of photos detailing Hammett's lifelong love of monster movies and horror memorabilia.
He has also hosted “Kirk’s Crypt” at the band’s 2012 and 2013 editions of the Orion Music + More festivals.
