Jack White introduces Lazaretto Ultra LP

Jack White continues to be an innovator in the world of music products, and he is now introducing his latest creation – an Ultra LP version of his forthcoming new album, “Lazaretto.”

Pressed on 180 gram vinyl, the Ultra LP plays from the inside groove outwards, backwards to the standard vinyl format. Both sides of the LP end with locked grooves, meaning they will play endlessly until the stylus is removed from the disc.

The “Lazaretto” Ultra LP includes 2 vinyl-only hidden tracks that are hidden beneath the center labels; 1 hidden track plays at 78 RPM and one plays at 45 RPM, making this a 3-speed record.

The disc also features dual-groove technology: it will play an electric or acoustic intro for the song, "Just One Drink", depending on where needle is dropped; the grooves meet for the body of the song.

With absolutely zero compression used during recording, mixing and mastering, the LP presents a different running order from the CD/digital version and utilizes some mixes that are different from those used on the CD and digital versions.

In terms of visuals, the vinyl pressed in seldom-used flat-edged format. The dead wax area on Side A contains a hand-etched hologram by Tristan Duke of Infinity Light Science, the first of its kind on a vinyl record, while a matte finish on Side B gives the appearance of an un-played 78 RPM record.

The “Lazaretto” Ultra LP is available for preorder at Third Man Records here, with shipping set for June 10, the day the album is released.

White recently issued the album’s title track as the project’s lead single.
