Metallica perform national anthem at AT&T Park in San Francisco

The members of Metallica were on hand at AT&T Park Friday night as Major Leagues Baseball’s San Francisco Giants hosted the 2nd annual Metallica Night.

Guitarists James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett performed the National Anthem as part of the festivities before drummer Lars Ulrich threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Hetfield also had the honor of introducing the game’s starting lineups, and fan-filmed video of that portion of the event is available.

Before a sold-out crowd of more than 41,000, the Giants went on to lose 7-5 to the visiting Miami Marlins.

Partial proceeds from every ticket sold are going to help benefit the Bay Area Chapter of Little Kids Rock.

Metallica will now prepare to bring their “By Request” concert series to Europe for shows starting May 28 at Sonisphere Finland in Helsinki, Finland.
