Extreme reveal plans for new album

Extreme have revealed plans to record their first new album in six years.

The band addressed the issue of new music during a pre-show press conference at Hellfest in Clisson, France on Saturday, where they were on a bill headlined by fellow Boston rockers Aerosmith.

"This is the first time we've ever gone on the road without new music [to promote], and I'm kind of embarrassed about that, to be honest,” said guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. "You know, it's doing that [we were performing] the [entire 1990] 'Pornograffitti' album [on some of the record tour dates], so it gives you a bit of an excuse to not have [a new] album [to tour behind]. But we're definitely working on stuff, and by the end of the year, we should have a new album in. It won't be a little one [EP]; it'll be a regular size."

Extreme’s last album, 2008's “Saudades de Rock”, was their first release in 13 years following a lengthy hiatus by the group that also saw Bettencourt become Rihanna’s touring guitarist.

Extreme recently launched their “Pornograffitti Live” European tour.

The shows see the band perform their 1990 album, “Pornograffitti”, in its entirety along with a greatest hits set.
