VIDEO: Paul Simon plays Beatles classic on George Harrison week on Conan

Paul Simon performed The Beatles’ classic, “Here Comes The Sun”, on the second night of George Harrison week on TBS’ late-night show, Conan.

Written by Harrison, the song was originally featured on the Beatles 1969 release, “Abbey Road.”

The album featured the final recording sessions in which all four Beatles participated.

"’Here Comes the Sun’ was written at the time when Apple was getting like school, where we had to go and be businessmen: 'Sign this' and 'sign that.',” wrote Harrison in his autobiography, “I, Me, Mine.” “Anyway, it seems as if winter in England goes on forever, by the time spring comes you really deserve it. So one day I decided I was going to sag off Apple and I went over to Eric Clapton's house. The relief of not having to go see all those dopey accountants was wonderful, and I walked around the garden with one of Eric's acoustic guitars and wrote "Here Comes the Sun."

The week-long tribute is to mark the release of the new box set, “George Harrison: The Apple Years 1968-75.”

The week kicked off Monday with a performance by Beck (see it here) and will continue Wednesday with Dhani Harrison and Friends; Norah Jones will wrap up the series on Thursday.

Available on CD and digital download, “George Harrison: The Apple Years 1968-75” is designed to complement Harrison's 2004 collection, “The Dark Horse Years 1976-92.”

The set spans Harrison's solo work for The Beatles' Apple Records from 1968 to 1975 and features an exclusive DVD with several video pieces, including a new seven-minute film with previously unreleased footage.

The Apple Years box also features an exclusive perfect-bound book with an introduction by Dhani Harrison, new essays by award-winning radio producer and author Kevin Howlett and rare, previously unpublished images.
