Sammy Hagar to release acoustic album Lite Roast

The day after his 67th birthday, Sammy Hagar will release his first acoustic album, “Lite Roast.”

Due October 14, the project sees the Red Rocker teamed with Waboritas guitarist Vic Johnson to deliver stripped-down versions of tunes from Hagar’s career, including a pair of Van Halen tracks: “Finish What Ya Started” and “Dreams.”

“It was just me and Vic live in the studio with no overdubs,” says Sammy. “Just two guitars, sometimes one guitar, sometimes just one voice, sometimes two voices.”

Hagar previewed the album earlier this year with the release of a rehearsal video for “Halfway To Memphis”, a track from his 2006 release, “Livin’ It Up!”

The album was inspired by the rehearsals for Sammy’s appearance at the Acoustic-4-A-Cure benefit show in May, which raised funds for the Pediatric Cancer Program at the University Of California, San Francisco UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.
